$400.00 | | Purchased At: | ebay | | Strengths: | Strong, stiff, long travel. Made in Italy. Really pretty. Soft and sexy like a pus*$*#*. | | Weaknesses: | :) Sorry, ask to Boxxer's and 888's owners. | | Similar Products Used: | Another 2003 Monster, 2001 monster, 2002 monster, Super T, Junior T, Z1. | | Bike Setup: | UMF Freddy, Fox DHX 3.0, Truvativ, XTR. | | Bottom Line: | I made a old review (see dow), but it was a mistake because the fork had hard coils. Now I bought a brand new Monster 2003 and it has the original coils, than it is really soft like 2001 and 2002 monsters.
It is heavy, but I'm to...
The best fork ever. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

With a 2.7 tire on it, theres still enough clearance to pretty much fit another tire on each side, it could probably take a 3.7 tire if it really wanted to. This fork has seen it all, from the flow park @ South SeaTac to massive stump drops in Duvall to endless runs @ Whistler and beyond!! Still on its original seals and wipers too! Did have the oil changed and the fluid level professionally adjusted a few months into ownership and this fork has been rock-solid reliable and SAVED my bacon more times than I can remember. Burly, heavy, and worth every penny and ounce of extra sweat needed to haul it up to the top of the trail because you can literally bomb down with speed and cofidence. Oh yeah, it handles the manly drops with ease, makes you a more confident rider!! | | Weaknesses: | 2 years into ownership, I can honestly say with full conifence...NONE!! | | Bike Setup: | 02 SC Super 8 with the full ridiculous heavy weight pacakge. 55 pounds of pure aluminum rocket sled!! | | Bottom Line: | Get 1. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

YOU CANT PUT MUCH TORQUE ON THEM. so i am waiting for new ones. also suggestion bleed the air out of both legs before every hard ride. it really makes a difference. sounds like opening a soda bottle when you loosen the screw. weight has not been an issue. if anything it helps you downhill. more inertia. anyways great deal on pricepoint.con go there i think they have some left.

It simply shrugs off any off-camber sections and can take any serious DH track with ease. The adjustability is superb, and you will struggle to bottom the fork out, but will still get very close to full travel. They're shorter (axle to crown) than 888's AND stiffer.
| | Weaknesses: | Some would say weight (while riding it in the carpark...) but that's not an issue when riding DH. The brake mount is a bit of an issue, I'd have preffered an IS mount... but hey, an adaptor fixes that issue. | | Similar Products Used: | Boxxers, White Bros, Z1's | | Bike Setup: | Avanti D8 | | Bottom Line: | I've noticed people complaining about not achieving full travel... Well guess what guys - you haven't set your fork up correctly! Either buy new springs or learn how to adjust the high + low speed compression... or hey - maybe try bleeding the forks!
These are the most serious fork I've ever used. I broke my last 3 forks (bent or snapped) and wanted something that could take my muppet riding style... and guess what! It does!! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

The craftsmanship on this piece of "modern art" is fantastic. I just upgraded from the '03 Z1 FR because I kept bottoming it out. Probably won't be able to bottom out the Monster!! 200mm of travel is a bunch. Was initially worried about pedal bob on CC climbs but not a problem here. This fork is so strong and stiff in its engineering that I'll probbly snap the headtube off before I damage the fork. That's a strong fork! | | Weaknesses: | None at this time. | | Similar Products Used: | 03 Marzocchi Bomber Z1 FR, various Manitou products | | Bike Setup: | GSR Hooligan DH HT built for speed. | | Bottom Line: | Moving from the 130mm Z1 FR to the 200mm Monster has expanded the wheelbase of my rig quite a bit, but after a few aggressive rides, I've adjusted my positioning and adapted accordingly. This is my first triple crown fork and it was worth the wait! Some might think that a fork this big on a hardtail is ridiculous, but I beg to differ -you have to see my hardtail. I kept finding and exceeding the limits of my previous forks, so now I think I've met my match! I have been a Marz fan since my '03 Z1 FR and will stick with them for many more years to come. from Modesto, CA Date Reviewed: October 4, 2003 | | Duration Product Used: | Less than 1 month | | Bottom Line: | THIS IS A FOLLOW-UP AFTER MY FIRST RIDE: There is no way I can do justice to this fork in writing. First, the weight is ABSOLUTELY not an issue! It enabled me to go so much faster that I could have sworn it was lighter than my Boxxer. I didn't even mind it in the pedal sections. I see this fork shaving a lot of time off my beginner/sport racing days. It is definately a must for ANY downhiller/freerider that just rides (no racing). My friend was ripping the weight UNTIL he actually took it down the mountain. He has a Boxxer and previously said the Monster was too much fork for him. After one run he said he needed to get one. Bottom line, I never felt the added weight! Second, it defines PLUSHNESS! The damping made me speechless. I was able to take ANY line at speeds I had never attempted before with the upmost confidence. It tracked perfectly. No obstacle could defelect it. It allowed me to blow through sections that I used to brake through. My Boxxer used to rattle my teeth loose. The Monster saved me from a lot of upper body fatigue I used to experience. This fork saved me from numerous potentially dangerous scenarios. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS FORK! I would have paid twice as much for it. Another rider said I would never have to buy another downhill fork, and he's right. It's performance far exceeded my wildest expectations. GO OUT AND BUY THIS FORK (especially you big boys)! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$580.00 | | Purchased At: | bikeroom.com | | Strengths: | 1. Probably unbreakable 2. Very plush 3. Looks great | | Weaknesses: | 1. Weight...BUT I'M NOT COMPLAINING...some will view it as a "weakness" | | Similar Products Used: | 2003 Boxxer Race (horrible!) | | Bike Setup: | 2003 Iron Horse SGS Pro | | Bottom Line: | I just mounted it to my bike last weekend and have yet to ride it. I will post a follow-up review after my first ride this weekend. I'm usually around 225 pounds. Needless to say, I'm very hard on my equipment. I ride downhill like I used to play linebacker...reckless! Lighter "racing" components don't last long with me. I finally got serious and bought this fork. What a work of art! Super plush...I'm foaming at the mouth to take it down some chairlift runs at North Star! I'm confident that this is the only fork for guys over 200 pounds. I plan on racing it in the beginner/sport class. Worried about the weight? Just get off the couch and lose some fat to compensate for the extra pounds! Think of all the time and money you'll save when you don't have to send it in to get repaired every other ride! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
