Strengths:plush, strong, takes hits and drops well. pretty simple to set up.
Weaknesses:a little flexible. max tyre is about 2.5
Similar Products Used:various sc forks. no dc
Bike Setup:haro dhr, fox vanilla rc, strong wheels, 4 pots, single chainring up front. typical dh
Bottom Line:very nice fork. the only dual crown forks ive tried so far but i can't see much more that could be improved. recently had them overhauled which transformed them even more. hit 6/8 ft drops weekly and have no problems so far.

3 chilis for value as they were pre-owned so i cant really comment

Price Paid: $550.00
Purchased At:second hand
Strengths:Incredibly smooth travel, long service intervals, supremely reliable. Low axle-to-crown. Helps you improve your riding skills fast and smooth.
Weaknesses:A bit heavier than a Boxxer, but once you ride it, you'll understand it's worth the extra grams.
Similar Products Used:Boxxer's, Drop Off Triple's, Jr.T's
Bike Setup:Scott High Octane 03', Shiver DC's 03', Hayes Mag, Maxxis Minions etc.
Bottom Line:The perfect fork for Hardcore Riding, I would recommend it to people, who want to make a good investment, instead of buying a new boxxer each season, except for those racers, who's only purpose of life is to take seconds off the clock

Strengths:look great , life saver for jumping , strong well built .
Weaknesses:a little heavy
Similar Products Used:marzocchi jr t , 888 , rock shox Boxxer WC , most dh free ride forks
Bike Setup:KHS DH50 Frame - 03 marzocchi shiver DC - blackspire chain guide- race face cranks and BB , sun ringle s-type wheelset- maxxis mobsters 2.7
Bottom Line:great fork for dh and freeriding. i only had the shivers for about 2 weeks but have been hitting 20 ft drop with them and they hold up great. i had a set of 2003 boxxer wc's on my bike before and have hit the same drops and the shiver feels alot smoother the the boxxer did. i would say get them if u do extreme freeriding or dh but kinda a waste to buy them for more techinical riding like riding bridges and such the boxxer was a much better fork for really technical things.

Strengths:Light, super smooth travel, very strong, good for hucking
Weaknesses:a little bit of flex, the stantions can get scrached if not taken care of, needed stiff springs
Similar Products Used:monter T2
Bike Setup:03 norco A-line, 03 shiver DC
Bottom Line:Ok I bought this fork on july of 04 and I do not regreat it. This fork replaced my 03 monster T2, so this fork is much lighte, on my 03 A-line it made the bike work alot better, the travel is alot smoother, and it never bottoms out (with the new stiff springs) , in drops it forgave my mistakes, on the NS it was great on the skinny's, I paid $1400 canandian for it and I would recomend this for to anyone who like's to get big air.

Duration Product Used:2 Years
Price Paid: $900.00
Purchased At:AEbike
Strengths:Extremely strong, good sensitivity, extremely low maintenance. Flex is fine.
Weaknesses:Fork bottoms very harsh if too little oil, and locks if too much. Impossible to get a good feeling bottom with this fork. As a result, harsh impacts are painful to the hands.

Crown clamps tend to stretch a lot, so you need to be careful of torque.

Burp screws are too small, and can strip easily.

The uppers aren't quite long enough for long head tubes, so the top crown can hit some frames, or not provide enough clamping.
Similar Products Used:Super T, Monster T, Avalanche
Bike Setup:Brooklyn Machine Works Race-Link
Bottom Line:Good fork. Strong enough for hucking, but the internals make hucking painful at times. Sweet for dh.

Similar Products Used:2001 shiver dc, 2003 tf tuned boxxer race

Bottom Line:this is my second set of shivers, i snapped my 2001 set, and got boxxers. didnt take long for me to want another set of shivers.
amazing fork, inspires you to go bigger and faster than before, and looks sexy at the same time.
if you are a pure racer then go for the boxxers, they are also great forks, plush stiff etc and 2lbs lighter, but shivers really are the bollocks for drops and still kick ass for racing

Favoriate Trail:anything that flows
Duration Product Used:6 months
Strengths:plush, strong, pretty stiff, tall (i like that anyway), adjustability, user servicable (that's huge, again, to me), inverted design. looks phat!
Weaknesses:no lock-out for climbing (ha ha), typical of marzocchi, mine was just about dry when i got it - why doesn't marzocchi put their recommended oil volume in these things?
Similar Products Used:nothing that i've tried compares but i've used 6"zzyzx, 6"jr.t's, 9"risse champ, etc, etc...
Bike Setup:foes dhs tube, shiver, r/f shore w/mrp, 8"hayes dh, dbl tracks w/gazzaloddis, basically everything you would expect to be hanging off a dh rig
Bottom Line:this thing does everything you can expect a dh fork to do. 7 1/2" of travel, decent in the weight dept, killer looks - oh, and it will out perform any other fork on the planet for free ride or aggressive dh riding. when i first got it i thought i made a mistake. it bottomed so, so easily. then i rememberred it was a marzocchi (read check fluid levels). i flushed the 3 drops (per leg) of fork oil and replace it with 305 cc's (again, per leg) of motocross fork oil - this is the fix for every marzocchi fork. now, the first 2 - 3 inches of travel has that floaty mx feel so as soon as you're rolling you're into it, and it ramps up nicely from there. i traded a 2 year old risse champ fork straight up for this thing and it was brand new. deal of the century, i.m.o. after riding it for 6 months i would have no problem spending a grand on a new on when/if that time comes.

bottom line - buy this fork and you will be faster, if that's what you're looking for.

Strengths:Lovely plush travel eats up everything thrown at it. Great for a big boy like me (100kg) who likes to do big drops and ride too fast. Bottomed out a bit before I got some heavy weight oil put in. Now its perfect. Love being able to tune the fork dampening and spring rate so easily.
Weaknesses:None really, other then it's kinda hard to wheelie the bike for the first time with these forks! HA HA. Also (not really a product weakness), but if you run a big fat front tire on 26" rim watch for the tire hitting the underside triple-clamp on big drops.
Similar Products Used:Monsters, DJII, Dropoffs etc...
Bike Setup:Norco s-hore.
Bottom Line:These forks are really great. I ride motocross and they feel like the ones on my Honda CR250. Nice and stiff and lots of good adjustments for when you wanna go from doing some urban then head up to Whistler for a few runs. I got my Shivers used, and as soon as I had them set up for my fat ass they gave me nothing but big toothy grins all the way down the hill. If you can find a set of these bad-boys dont hesitate to pick em up!

Bottom Line:These forks are great. Thet track well, are of good quality and they just work. I bottomed mine out (I weigh 180lbs) landing a knarly 40ft double stepdown, but i'll stick some more oil in and they'll be sweet, my old monsters were. Favoriate Trail:University of Utah- Urban
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $1100.00
Purchased At:Canyon Sports
Strengths:Plush, beefy, stiff, lighter than the Monster or S8
Weaknesses:Not really a weakness but if you run the direct stem cut your steerer tube
long enough to still be able to use a different stem (just in case)
Similar Products Used:MonsterT, Stratos S7 & S8 & MX6...etc
Bike Setup:03 Med.Specialized BH- stock except for ShiverDC and rear BMF Wheel
Bottom Line:I am 6' and weigh 190lbs. Ridestyle is lots of Urban Drops and stairs.

I have owned about every dual crown fork Marz makes and have tried and owned about a lot of other
brands- stratos MX6 and S8, rockshox boxxer, and etc. The 02 Marz MonsterT was my favorite of
them all but this year I just couldn't justify getting the new 03 MonterT for my ride style because
of the increase in weight. I had not yet given the Shiver DC a try because I thought of it more
as a Racing Shox and not a Freeride fork but given the new Monster was now out of my weight league
I decided to give it a try. The shiver dc is awesome. While not quite as stiff as my 02 Monster
it is still plenty stiff for hucking, freeride abuse, and slow technical riding and the ride
quality seems a little better (than the MonsterT)... more small bump compliance but still ramps-up for the big hits.
The external adjustability is great- preload, dampening, and rebound. Direct stem works great and
feels solid. Given the wieght savings over even the 02 MonsterT and the amazing ride the Shiver
puts out it has now become my most favorite dual crown big-abuse fork.

Strengths:Plush, doesn't dive too much under braking, stiff, awesome damping, not too heavy. The baddest looking fork around.
Weaknesses:none
Similar Products Used:Z1 QR20, Z1 BAM, .. all single crown
Bike Setup:98 FSR Elite with 6.3" rear, XT discs, 03 Shiver DC
Bottom Line:I thought I'd made a mistake and paid too much for a fork I couldn't use. No way. My favorite DH run is a steep nasty rock garden which used to feel real sketchy on the old Z1 QR20 front end. Now I know what fork flex is all about. The Shiver DC is so solid compared to the Z1 that it just holds whatever line I choose and gobbles up what's in front of me. I can also brake when I need to and the front doesn't dive like the Z1 used to. I launched off a drop and saw a loose log across the trail where I was going to land... no probs, the Shiver hit it and rolled over it as if it wasn't there.

As for the weight, I ride this bike up the mountain as well and can manage all the climbs that I used to make with the previous Z1 fork. I also tested the weight of the new fork against a new Boxxer race and there was only 1 lb difference. Not too bad for what you get: one of the best looking forks around.

I've always like Marzocchi damping on my previous forks, but the HSCV damping is something else. It works so well that even the roughest track feels more like a graded road.

If you like to point your bike down, then this fork will make you ride better and look for harder sections!
