Strength:

They look cool.

Weakness:

YOU MUST READ THIS REVIEW!!!!!!!
The hubs spoke retention system has a very serious design flaw. The aluminium hub lugs which hold the straight pull spokes in place are noticeably very small and thus weak. So much has the flange area been reduced (supposedly to save weight) that it does not have enough strength to withold the tension of the spokes let alone the force of even using the wheel!
I can say this with authority as my brand new deemax 2011 rear wheel has never been ridden(have been waiting for the rest of my parts to put the bike together) yet today I heard an extremely loud crack come from the wheel. Upon inspection i found a piece of the hub that holds one of the spokes in place just exploded clean off. This happened to an unused brand new wheel!! WTF
My LBS has seen this before.

This is a very expensive product and while you normally "get what you pay for" i advise you absolutely do not purchas. This product has extreme design flaws.
Spend your cash on a product with properly designed hub flanges.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!

Strength:

no rim strip, tubless

Weakness:

rear hub got super loose, sopokes got super loose, yellow, practically impossible to put a downhill tire on, need special tools to do work on it, needed to be trued after 2 months.

if you are thinking about buing these wheels, dont, totally not worth the money, especially if you buy them brand new.

Strength:

sweet when new- light- tubless is cool

Weakness:

hubs dont last- special tools required to service or true. My latest set of dee max lasted only 4 months before the rear hub failed.

i dont know how i always end up with these wheels. they just find me for cheap usually. dont buy these unless you get them really cheap. every set i have ever owned has failed after a few months. the rear hubs are junk- not servicable. if you ride allot- you will wear them out. this goes for XC to the DH models. i have them all. (unfortunaly). they rims are good in my opinion. tubless works great. easy to true. strong.

Strength:

looks cool. pretty beefy. light for being tough. ust.

Weakness:

sometimes hard to put tires on and off. but im not the best mechanic so that might be it.
heard about crappy rear hub. mine is fine so fr.
price

so far so good. i got it less than a month ago and yet to take them to the mountains this season. in urban with many harsh flat landings, these wheels are solid and flawless so far. cant beat the funky yellow. once i take it to golden, i should be able to tell more.

Strength:

No spoke holes = no rim strips = happy me. If you hate installing rim strips, and are obsessive compulsive like myself, these wheels are a blessing. Oh yeah, and they're indestructable, too.

Weakness:

Heavy as sin. My complete wheelset weighs about 16 lbs with 2.5 WTB tires, Hope rotors, and an XT cassette. MSRP is a bit steep.

Bombproof, tubeless compatible wheelset. If you want unabashed performance, and you like yellow wheels, get the Deemax's. You won't be disappointed. I'll write a more complete review in a few months.

Strength:

Tracks with no flex, wider rim allows for tire profiles to optimize, Mavic UST system hard to beat

Weakness:

Saint kit for rear wheel a bit awkward to get right

Moving from the CrossMax standard to the DeeMax's w saint and Tulio front was like night and day in the terrain we ride most of the time. The wheel track the edges better when you are trying to hold a narrow line and they takes side and front impacts better than anything I have ridden. FYI I am 6' 205 plus with pack. I ahve trued the rear slightly in 6 months and that was after the derailleur was pushed into it bending one spoke. Took it to Moab for 4 days of riding and literaly crashed down porcupine rim at speeds I was never comfortable with on the old rims. I also think the higher volume tubeless tires have a better profile on the wider rims. The weight penalty is big but the performance is worth it in my style of riding. Great hubs and bearings so far the winter riding will tell the story will rereview next spring

Strength:

they are really cool. light.

Weakness:

hard to get tire on, WEAK. needed to be trued many times, the rear hub exploded, front hub is insanely loose. flat spotted dented, and the front has had 4 spokes just rip out for no apparent rearson, and that stripped the nipples so i couldnt put new ones back in.
expensive

they are alright if you have a full time mechanic and want light rims, or rims that are really "cool", i wouldnt suggest them to anyone other than a serisous racer who has the time money or the mechanic to work on these often.

Strength:

Stays True, no flexing. Awesome looks, UST no pinch flats. Really bombproof.

Weakness:

None

really love them . I have taco-ed a few wheels in my time being 5'11'' 190 lbs. these wheels inspire tons of confidence. really love them. I take good care of them they should outlast a few bikes. they take a rediculous beating on Mt Snow downhill runs. I would not ride any other rim now. I didn't believe the hype at first but then I rode them for a year now and the hype is compleatly true.

Strength:

ust, strong, can take a beeting. the straight pull spokes....i can change a spke on the trail with out taking the wheel off

Weakness:

pawls can come out of position it is the small springs combined with the heat from freewheeling at high speeds. mavic does need to address this

this is my trail/freeride set up i will be installing these on my 06 stinky. the pawls and spring in the freee hub are easy to service. i heard a nois coming from the rear when free wheeling and the little spring was out of place. simple fix but annoying when it does happen. 1 year of use these rims are very strong only slightly trued twice, noise has only happended twice....mavic please make it go away. i would recomend to anyone who needs a serious rim. good for urban assault.
