~ 21mm internal width
~ Very stiff wheels
~ 1750g weight
~ Maxtal alloy is bombproof
~ Good sealed cartridge bearings
~ Rim is slightly smaller than most 29er hoops, so many tires mount tool-free
~ UST system is the best - no rim tape needed
~ Remains true, for many thousands of miles

~ Spokes like to "chirp"....during slow speed climbs
~ FTS-X freehub needs constant, cleaning and Mineral Oil service
~ Adding 20mm x 110mm Freeride/DH front hub to XC rim/spokes makes no sense
~ 2009-2011 Front 20x110 hub cannot easily convert to 15mm or 9mmQR unless you replace entire 20mm axle tube. with hard-to-source 15mm thru-axle tube(Risse Racing = $40)
~ Must buy $50 worth of proprietary Zicral spokes to replace only one spoke
~ Arrogant French Mavic warranty support - they simply do not admit to manufacturing/design defects

Mavic invented the UST standard, in 2001(Mavic TXC 3.01). The 21mm wide inner rim bed is machined to the point where tires mount easily without tools, rim tape or sealant...if using full UST tires. The rims are bomb-proof, as XC wheels. In 2009, World Cup XC pro Roel Paulisson rode 24 miles on only the rear rim and finished the race. When evaluated by Mavic - the rim was still perfectly true. When using the front in a DH or Freeride fork - exercise caution, as the rims simply cannot endure multiple big hits, despite being XC-tough.
