Strength:

Best flat protection available without Stan's. Strong casing and long-lasting tread (I disagree with another review here). Smooth handling on most trails.

Weakness:

2.0 inch width is low-volume (stiff) but light. 2.2 width is more flexible but heavier. Stiffness causes instability on loose, deep gravel/rocks. Otherwise holds predictably on most trails.

I wouldn't use the 2.0 again because it is lower volume, stiff and doesn't hold in loose rocks or sand. The 2.2 is a good all-around tire and holds well on most trails - but not real deep loose trails. If you ride reasonable trails and want good flat protection, it's a good tire. Or use Stan's and get the non-Armadillo version.

Strength:

Good mud shedding, goood traction in loose terrain. The wide spaced knobs are great. They're also fairly light.

Weakness:

2Bliss sucks and not really compatible with Mavic UST rims. It took alot of attempts to get mine to seal up and they were always leaking.

Tires are have good sized knobs but arent really UST so be prepared to put tubes in. Side walls are thin, but I've had no problem with thorns or tears.

Strength:

~Great traction here in the desert Southwest.
~Great puncture resistance against goat-heads and small thorns.
~Satisfaction guaranteed by specialized

Weakness:

~Short wear life of the tread
~Tire had a delamination at the tire bead after about 200 miles making them unridable
~had to warranty them(see above)

This is a good tire for its traction and puncture resistance but it did not hold up will for me overall. The tire rubber, one day during a ride, started to peel off of the inner structure of the tire exposing the inside threading. the delam was about 4x2 inches. The front one started to do the same thing, I then noticed. I thought this was a bit sketchy since I don't think I abused it any. The local shop here was good about replacing them with another tire though. But they made a point of saying this was not a widespread problem with the tire and reluctantly agreed to warranty them nonetheless. Which ticked me off some since this was clearly a defect. I would not buy them again. I need a tire that is WAY more durable. It could have been a fluke, yes, but both tires? Specialized had one chance to gain a new customer. They blew it. These are expensive tires that should last a long time. 3 chilis all around.

Strength:

Low rolling resistance. Great traction. Good cornering capability. Nice solid feel...even in sand.

Weakness:

None yet.

I wanted a tire to replace the Specialized Resolution Pro tires that came with the bike. I thought those were a great tire until I rode the Captain...it is definitely a big improvement across the board. I primarily ride less than 20 MPH and want solid control at those speeds. This tire does the job. A very nice riding trail tire with improved control over the Resolution Pro.
