Rubena V78 Neptune Tire

V78 Neptune

Rubena’s best inexpensive tire for soft conditions or the classic “dust over crust” situations. Meaty, aggressive knobs are built to grab the dirt and create a stable platform on the singletrack and in the corners. This is a great tire for dryer environments with dusty or loamy features.

Strength:

Loads of grip no matter the conditions, in the same league as far more expensive tires.

Weakness:

Heavy, lots of rolling resistance and the soft compound will have knobs ripped off the rear on stony fire roads.

These tires came standard on my Rockrider, although they are generally hard wearing the soft knobs were getting ripped off the rear on fire roads at my local forest. Literally a couple of rides on the and the tire was no more good, I replaced with a harder compound Kenda 850 but this had nowhere near as much grip in the dirt in any conditions as the Neptune.

I have loads of tires and grip wise they compare well to Maxxis Beaver in general with a bit better rolling resistance but a lot ore weight. Not a race tire as a result of the weight.
