Strength:

Excellent tire for spring/summer season, great grip over compact terrain as well as over rockgarden zones. One of the best tires I've had for the rear wheel so far!

Weakness:

High-high-high rolling resistance, despite knob design... you feel your bike is around 6 lbs heavier while climbing. Not good for wet or dusty conditions.

Have to speak in behalf of people that think there are no negative aspects about this tire. We all know they're thin enough to make a likely good day on the trail a flats day, but I didn't have any flat during all this time. I always use to inflate inner tubes at 40psi to climb and release air until 35 to go down and never had a problem.

Negative point? Oh yes!!! weight feeling... take it easy during the climbing... don't go with lycra XC friends unless you got really powerful legs!!

You feel a lot of confidence with this tire as rear wheel tire. Nrever tried to use it on front because I guess this is not designed for that. You can put a Nevegal on front and your bike will feel great!

Strength:

good cornering ,good rubber and tread layout

Weakness:

flats. flats, flats. never have i used a tire (after 14 years of mountain riding)
that gets punctured and pinched so easily. tried different pressures, trails, . .
once a ride. these tires are great (maybe) for groomed trails with no rocks, roots ,thorns, pebbles- worst tire ive used other than its good cornering and tracks well.(maybe why lopes designed it)

would not recommend this tire except for perhaps racing on a nicely groomed trail or pavement.
way too puncture prone , which gets scary on the downhills . .off the rim we go.,

forget this tire- too many others out there unless you want to pack several patch kits,

Strength:

Fast rolling, mid weight tire

Weakness:

Cornering strength is not as good as Michelin, can't grip on any wet surface at all, Tire is totally useless in the wet. Its a better 4x/dry terrain tire. took a long long time to run in the tires for the sides to get a bit of cornering grip, however by time that happened, the centre knobs were being eaten away. Pinch flat protection is not too good. Average about 1 punture a month when using it.

I bought this tire in taiwan when it was launched at 2007 Taiwan bike show. Therefore I got it earlier than most people.

Get it if your terrain is usually dry as the gobi desert. and if you only race 4X. no other purpose for it. Seriously a brian lopes style tire which is made for what he does best. 4X period

2nd reviewer Ned is myopic as USA is not always the first to get gear off the shelf. Try looking towards taiwan if you want the latest gear and try it out.

Strength:

Predictable handling, good cornering bite. low rolling resistance tire.

Weakness:

Terrible on wet surfaces even at slow speeds. got pinched flatted once. small block wears down super quick. Not grippy enough on trails

Not suitable to XC purposes. slipped 2x at braking speeds. which is how slow i was going on pavements. Not too sure what they might be area they are good for.
short distance 4x races seems fine. terrible on the wet.

not worth the money for a signature model. maybe the stick-e version might be better.

Strength:

Tires are light and fast rolling

Weakness:

Loose traction when braking hard

These tires are really good for XC riding and I use them for all mountain riding in the Sierras also. Have great cornering ability and work great for hard and semi hard losse trails but are not much for wet condition will make the perfect tire for summer riding in NorCal.

Strength:

Fast rolling, light weight, and Brian Lopes won a championship riding it.

Weakness:

None (when used for cross country riding)

This is a great tire when used for its intended purpose. It’s fast, light and corners really well. I had to pull some major strings to get a pair of these tires in September so I’m not really sure how the reviewer below got his in May. Kenda doesn’t even sell them in stores yet!! It sounds like the bad review came from some pre-production tires or something because I had no problem with mine. I would recommend them to anyone riding or racing XC.
