Strength:

Strong and stiff. Stays true. GBS.

Weakness:

Weight. GBS.

Hi guys, I've been riding a pair of WTB dual duty XC rims for almost a year, for XC, training, and even touring with medium loads. I built the front wheel with 2x crosses both sides, and rear with 2x and 3x on drive side. Consider I'm using V-Brakes.

They are pretty stiff, with no need to true them. Width is generous (24mm), a bit more than most of VB's rims, wich helps a lot to achieve trueness. Eyelets are also a nice feature, preventing the niples from getting stuck into the hole. GBS really helps to hold the tyre tighter.

Now, the bad of the rim: Weight is heavier than claimed, is about 480g. GBS makes more difficult to seat the tyre properly, either you have te lubricate the bead and inflate really hard, or you have to seat the tyre manually with the help of a tyre remover. If you don't, the tyre won't be true. The last weakness is the pinned joint. It works OK, but kills wheel balance. No valve can counter-balance pins weight, not even with the help of computer sensor magnet or extra valve nuts. It just matters if you ride fast and want to set every possible thing to ride faster.

Bottom line is buy confident if you need a stiff rim. Not more than a reliable XC training rim, but will stand many seasons and abuse. Don't expect it to be a light rim because it's not a race rim.

Strength:

Good stong wheel

Weakness:

Heavy, I as well got alot of flats running this rim with tubes. I ended up installing Stans sealant in the tube, that helped a ton.

Good rim that held up a 200+ rider on techy single track.

Strength:

Stands up to abuse

Weakness:

Flat, flats and more flats.

The rim tape kept cutting into the tubes, causing flats all the time. Switched out tape for a cloth tape, and flats aren't as bad, but still exist. Very odd.
