DT Swiss EXC Air TRLC 2008 Forks

Available At:
EXC Air TRLC

The EXC 150 fork offers 20 mm more travel than the XMC 130 for extra travel reserves in rough terrain, while the thru-axle version increases the stiffness, allowing the rider greater control over the bike. Long climbs are easily conquered with the fork locked and lowered, while all the plush travel makes the descent a joyride.

  • 150mm Travel.
  • QR and 20mm Thru axel.
  • Air, coil negative spring Open oil bath.

    Strength:

Carbon legs, lighter weight. Small bump compliance, and Noticeably plush with big hits. Quality products and build.

    Weakness:

Confusing. Launch Control will lock out the suspension at a height of 110mm-120mm. If you engage the launch control at 150mm travel while not lowering the suspension fork, you'll notice the fork will compress to a pre-set height of 110mm-120mm. My issue with this is, it lowers the bottom bracket by about 1 inch and I tend to hit rocks while altering the bike's geometry. Normally, climbing a fire road will bring no issues, but on a rutty trail you'll have issues. If you start wondering why your hitting rocks? Look at the fork.

This fork is very plush, but depending on your type of trail you ride may not be suitable for your needs. It sure makes your bike look pretty, but is useless.

As already stated, no weaknesses found. Gives confidence to go anywhere as they as very forgiving. A great addition for a light weight setup.

    Strength:

Incredibly light for a 150mm fork, Launch control is very usefull, very plush & very adjustable

    Weakness:

Standard oil weight is too heavy, occassional click from the negative coil, rebound adjuster easily knocked.

Really good forks, very plush & stiff, track the ground very well and soak everything up smoothly. I had to change the damping oil in mine to 5wt as the standard 7.5wt was too slow.
Look like a work of art!

    Strength:

light, plush, easy to setup / use, works great

    Weakness:

possibly that the launch control completely locks the fork when it´s lowered

I´m a lightweight with 70kg of body weight so I´m having no issues with the stiffness. This may however vary with heavier riders, but I personally love how plush the fork is and how well it uses the entire travel without bottom outs. In it´s own way it´s just as good as the FOX Talas forks - both systems have their advantages and I like the DT Swiss a bit better, especially because of the lower weight.

    Strength:

Light as stink!! Stiff, easily adjustable. Sexy as hell

    Weakness:

The weird clunking sound during compression. I called DT about this and they gave me some set-up tips that worked to get rid of it. Oh yeah, it's damn expensive too!

Fantastic fork! who knew a 6 inch travel fork could be so damn light and stiff at the same time. Plush, smooth, stiff, everything works beautifully. I bought this fork to add some travel (2" more) to the front end of my ride and it dropped the total weight by almost a pound!
