Strength:

Its cheap reliable regardless of what others say easy to adjust

Weakness:

its heavy and has like 4" of travel, which is not much even for xc

It is like a great shock for the price, other than the amount of travel it has. It does not squeak and it requires almost no maintnence, it's made out of sturdy aluminum and it comes wtih a 650 lb spring and mud does not clog it up.

Strength:

Well, the shock if adjusted properly does great. It does not bottom out unless you have not made a good adjustment.

Weakness:

Constant, brain renching, nerve racking squeak that even WD-40 can not fix

This shock is not given a whole lot of credit for its ridability from other riders. I myself ride a lot harder than most people. this shock does decent for the price.
BUT THE SQUEAK IT GETS AFTER RIDING IT TOO LONG IS ENOUGH TO MAKE A PERSON SUICIDAL.;P
if you are looking for a good shock that will last a long time with out having to mess with it, this is not your shock.

Strength:

even though it bottoms easily, it can withstand a lot of pounding. i do drops with it and i bottoms every time, but i haven't had any problems with it. i holds up. could be good for cross country, but not for anything else.

Weakness:

bottoms out very easily. i don't weigh that much, and i can bottom it very easily. can't take drops or jumps, and sometimes trails. i am destroying it doing the drops and stairs that i do. very cheap shock. can't loosen or tighten the shock very easily after riding. the bumper does nothing. the coil won't come off at all. not for anyone who does anything but riding around with their family.

if the shock isn't already on your bike, don't buy it seperately. can't take anything smoothly.

Similar Products Used: vanilla r, vanilla rc, which are way better.

Strength:

Its strong, very easy to adjust..all you do is twist.

Weakness:

NOT ENOUGH TRAVEL.

I would think that if they gave us a larger coil... say with perhaps an inch more travel, it would be the ideal rear shock for entry level to intermediate bike riders.

Overall quite good.

Strength:

Big spring, better than something that is broken? Hey I'm trying real hard here, alright.

Weakness:

No dampening at all, can you say bounce?

hmm, do not use with Unified rear triangle design frames, (bounce) unless you really like pogosticks, which I do, but you can't race with `em. (wow, theres an idea) The only reason this shock gets by at all is because the spring is so stiff that it doesn't need much dampening. I got this thing incredibly cheap off of ebay. I was short on money and my shockworks broke on my Marin, so I bought this, and it got me through a couple of races now with less than desirable results. (boing)

Similar Products Used: Fox vanilla coil, Marin Shockworks, and some other DNM that came stock on an old Mongoose (threw it away because I thought is was broke, but now I learned that it didn't have any dampening to begin with, just like this Fireball)

Strength:

*Strong and durable
*Plush
*Lots of adjustbility

Weakness:

*Spring is too flexy (not stiff)
*Not enough travel for a $400 bike
*Small coil spring

This is an updated review.
Well, I've been using this shock for quite a long time, I read other reviews about this shock and I think this shock really belongs to a department store bike.
Ths coil spring is way too small but that makes up for the adjustbility. The ring that is at the end of the spring was a little bit snapping. I seriously don't think this shock is good for anything even thou it came on a downhill bike, it is alright for some cross-country riding sometimes.
Too make up for all those weaknesses: The best rebound ever
The most adjustbility shock ever even not much travel because if you are over the age of 9, this shock is not suitable at all, NOT good for an upgrade what so ever.
