Strength:

Strong frame, capable of evrything i want to do. feels great to ride. nice saddle! brakes are better than i expected and when set up right are better than many hydaulics. easy to crank hard with less sus than downhill bikes.

Weakness:

forks are average at best. wheels needed replacing eventually, as did most parts, but only after about 4 years of abuse. hanger snaps often. hard to find a rear shock which fits.

when i first had it, this bike was more set up to be an all mountain bike, but with some very beefy freeride parts, it performs amazingly on large jumps, drops up to 15 foot, and any dh track i care to throw it down, like a mini dh sled. it has seen a lot of abuse, and although it isn't doing what it was intended for, it works really well. i love it, but it does has a couple of issues. main one is shock, not a standard fitting so difficult to find one to fit (a fox vanilla r is available if you look hard enough) and the derailleur hanger snapped periodically until i changed the hanger type and derailleur itself. parts wore out after 4 years, but wheels lived a lot longer than i expected. overall, now i've modded it, it is a lovely bike which copes with everything from dh racing to freeride parks, and even a bit of uphill! highly recommended, especially for the money or anyone who doesn't want a full downhill sled. only 4 chillies because forks aren't great, but with my set up it's easily six chillies!

Strength:

Very adjustable. Very quiet. Very durable. Easy bike for beginner. Quality, long lasting purchase for cheap (compared to other dual suspensions.) Compared to the new yukon fx, that took its place, it has more travel all the way around. Also, I like how you can manually adjust the rear suspension, as opposed to the yukon where you'll need some form of air pump.

Weakness:

It's a little heavy. Some other bikes do have more travel. And I'm racking my brain to try to be non biased, but the fact of the matter is I love this bike.

I don't know if you can still get this bike new, but even if you can't it will probally be worth it used. I will never pawn or sell no matter how hard it gets or if I upgrade. This bike is a pure fun, thrill filling machine. And a beautiful work of art. It not only looks great, but Giant succeeded in creating a very sound piece of technology, that I belive should be ranked one of the best bikes of all time.

Yukon FX, Boulder, and a Next,( but the only thing really similiar about the next is it was dual suspension. I destroyed it the first time I took it out. Bent the frame.)

Strength:

takes whatever I dish out, frame strong. good amount of suspension= 5inches front and rear light weight, well geared, can withstand 8 foot drops everything is replaceablevery affordable

Weakness:

derailleur strength front suspension deminishes when weather is under 45 degrees

my first true mountain bike, finally got my parents to stop spending money buying a walmart bike every year none of my friends can keep up with me on downhills or uphills, I don't plan on getting a new bike any time soon, much better than any of its competition. bike not built for downhill racing or anything of that matter

Strength:

Solid frame, great breaks, has taken all of my jumps, drops, hits, and crashes.

Weakness:

Rear derailure sucked so I swithced it with a Sram X9. Design of rear suspension.

I love this bike. I rock out with my two boys that have a $2600 Yeti and the other has a Gary Fisher and I come out on top. Once you get the rear shock set right this bike will perform.

Strength:

the has held up for the most part. the rims have only minor bends and warps. the brakes stop me fairly well.

Weakness:

had to change the front and back tires. completely destroyed the bottom bracket and the rear shock. busted about 3 or 4 hangers.

good bike for starting out but if you're going to bigger get a stronger bike. this bike can take downhill riding but not that well or that much
