SlicerX   Weekend Warrior [Jun 01, 2009]
    Strength:

Inexpensive, light fabric, length, number of pockets

    Weakness:

Thin pad, poor waist to length ratio, baggy

I'm a tall, thin guy (6'4" 210 pounds). My waist is a heavy 35" and I read that I needed a XXL for 36" as these sized wrong. I am SO glad that I got the XXL as there is not a whole heck of a lot of wiggle room around the waist. The problem is the compression-like liner that hardly 'compresses' around my skinny chicken thighs. Also the overall baggy length of the shorts causes then to repeatedly catch on the horn of my seat. The tight waist with the long baggy length is and odd ratio.

The padded liner is VERY thin compared to other shorts that I have seen in the store or that my wife uses. I would say about half the thickness of a typical Pearl Izumi pad. I took these out on my 3rd and 4th ride (20 miles and 17 miles respectively) this weekend and I didn't really notice there was a pad in them at all. I'll drop a little extra coin and look for some Fox or something that is worth the extra loot.
