Strength:

An unbelievable simple, light and easy way to keep a chain from jumping off a 1 x 9 setup.

Weakness:

None so far !

My wife has been getting stronger day by day since i started riding a single speed. As she found i needed so little gearing to have so much fun, the change came quickly: she's asked me to remove the big chainring, then the granny. Her setup ended up being 32 x 11-34. What else is needed? C'mon, 27-30 gears is a lot of cross chaining, we all know.
She doesn't need any more gears to ride our rolling trails either, quite good legs she got. Well, yes, she needed something else...as strong as she is both up and down the trail, her chain kept coming off in the rough. This because i removed the front derailleur and shifter, etc.
I went to do some research on our mates, cyclocross riders. Found they mentioned this little item quite a bit. The rest is history. Once set, you need to fall on a rock and have it hit the guide to misalign it. No more dropped chains and bruised shins. Her nice legs, gotta be strong and smooth !
