Crank Brothers Cobalt 11 Seatpost

DESCRIPTION

By this time, you're tired of reading about how every product you see is 'lighter and stiffer' than the last one. We would like to take this opportunity to give you a break. The Crank Brothers Cobalt Carbon Seatpost is really, really shiny. Oh, and the clamp is a pretty shade of gold.

Strength:

1. Fantastically light.
2. Beautiful aesthetically.

Weakness:

1. Adjustment of the tilt and saddle rail a hassle.
2. Need to give it a hard knock if we need to readjust the position.
3. Rail clamp can be easily scratched.

A beautiful and fantastically light seat post but despite adhering to the recommended torque in clamping and with fibre grip gel, the seat post broke 1 inch from the seat tube after 2 months while riding. Apart from the aesthetic value, the seat post is not durable.

Strength:

Super light! Even with the extended length posts.

Weakness:

Clamp design. It is hard to adj, sometimes it takes a tap from a rubber mallet to knock the clamp loose.

Great post, aesthetically pleasing, but a PITA to adj. Either you can't get the clamp to move due to it getting stuck or the clamp wants to move around after doing any sort of drop or rocky terrain. I have torqued to the 12nm and it is still not holding. I don't want to over tighten since it is Carbon. I will continue to look for solutions and try to make it work as it is a work of art. But sometimes just because it's pretty doesn't mean it works well.
