Strength:

A great bike that requires little looking after. A pleasure to ride. Climbs well, handles smoothly and Comfortable.

Weakness:

Needed to be greased as the i-drive was creaking (no big deal).
My legs are a weakness.

This is my first MTB. Having had no experience of the sport I managed to get this bike cheap. A friend who knows about bikes was impressed with the components supplied. I have grown in confidence and managed several long haul rides. The bike is comfortable and stands up well to the rigours of XC cycling - I am never going to be fast regardless of the bike so am happy with its performance (I am the weakest link). I truly love this bike. It has changed my life style and health by being a pleasure to ride. Chuffed to bits.
Great full suspension bike which enables an unfit bloke to do things he never thought he could. Marvellous!

Strength:

Fast! First thing I noticed when testing this and other models, GT Marathon Elite is very fast. Capable in all terrain, climbs like a goat, pedals fantastically over rock gardens, excellent components list, excellent on the road.

Weakness:

none as yet

This bike won't disappoint anyone looking for an extremely capable and fast XC rig. The GT Marathon Elite handles all mountain challenges well, and some exceptionally well, such as climbing traction, rock garden traction, and fast switchback corners.

The i-drive isolates the pedaling force to eliminate all but the smallest of pedal bob. The Marathon does this so well they chose not to fit the rear shock with a lock out, which I can confirm is the right choice (I would never engage the lockout if it had one).

Rolling down the hill through challenging terrain the Marathon holds up well compared to all mountain machines with extra travel, albeit with the need for slightly more careful choice of lines.

The Marathon also makes superb city bike, with the rigid frame and fast rolling ability, the suspension takes the bumps out of city streets giving a truly enjoyable commute.
