Strength:

Just about everything, tracks and corners fantastically, absolutley no bob when climbing in pro-pedal mode and hardly any bob climbing with prop pedal off. Strong feeling bike,

Weakness:

Limited rear tyre clearance at the chainstay near the bottom bracket - currently running a Maxxis 2.1 Advantage which only just fits but gets clogged with mud pretty easily.

This was a warranty replacement for two broken Mongoose Canaan's. Full credit to Jenson and Pacific Cycles for sorting this out and not giving me another Canaan.

This bike is great! I am significantly faster on descents, I can brake later into corners and lean it over with much more confidence than previous bikes, possibly helped by running a tubeless Michelin Mud XCR on the front at 25psi.

It climbs really well, this is my first i-drive bike, it's a simple concept and does a great job of isolating pedal force from the suspension while remaining active. Nice big bearings should last for ages and are easily replacable with an ISIS spline BB tool.

This is my first experience with a GT full suspension bike and I would easily buy another when the time comes despite the limited rear tire clearance. Highly recommended.

Strength:

Great Climber and the component setup compliments a bike that handles like a dream. XT servowave technology really gives you that extra breaking power. The price to component ratio is fantastic and i was astonished that the GT comes in at $2300 with its superb components.

Weakness:

The Kenda Nevegal tyres do not have the best cornering ability and tend to slide on tight switchbacks.

This is an excellent XC bike that is superbly priced and spec'd. I would highly recommend the Marathon 1 to anyone i speak to!

Great Handling - Great setup and Great shifting thanks to the new Deore XT 08.

Any above average - skilled rider looking for a great XC bike that will not break the bank and give you high end performance should definitely purchase this bike.

I have upgraded from a shwinn hardtail so the performance compared to the shwinn is phenominal!!

Tested a Giant Trance 1 and Anthem 1 - Similar spec and handling on the GT but a lot less on the wallet!

Strength:

Very good all around performance. Bike is extremeley tunable and responsive. I am a heavy rider at about 270 lbs and it is very smooth. Excellent front suspension with the Fox fork.

Weakness:

At just under 30 lbs it is a little on the heavy side but not too bad.

Great investment for an experienced rider looking for an all around full suspension XC bike but will handle some moderate downhills and abuse. Worth every penny.
