Strength:

Climbing. Flexibility for air travel.

Weakness:

Unpacking and repacking the disassembled bike puts a lot of pressure on the cables if not done with care.

I bought the Sycip from the brothers up in Santa Rosa with the S and S coupler system. The frame was custom designed for me with the intended use being cross country type rides. I've used it on several trips, and it's proved very convenient in terms of saving airline bike charges.

It takes a while to figure out how to pack it efficiently into the case as its a pretty tight fit. Once you have it dialed in, it takes about 10 minutes to pack and 15 minutes to unpack and put back together. With disc brakes, the cables may cause a problem as you have to decouple them from the frame upon disassembly and reaffix them to the frame once you put it together. Other than that, I would highly recommend it.

If I were to consider a similar setup today, I would check out the Ibis Tranny, as that seems to offer the same flexibility without the added cost of the couplers.

Strength:

Amazingly strong and light frameset (25lbs built up). The bike handles extremely well, especially at speed and thru all terrain. It's extremely well balanced and just fits the rider so well. Also the attention to detail is amazing. Beautiful bikes.

Weakness:

None. Really.

The Brothers build an amazing product. As I said the bike handles like a dream, perfectly balanced and beautiful. I liked the look of the fixed gear bike so i asked for that frameset but set up for gears. Give these guys a call, you won't be disapointed. I've ridden this bike hard for the last two years on all manner of singletrack and have yet to have a problem. This frame is for those who want a unique and custom ride. The cost may be a factor but still Sycip is less spendy than other custom builders out there ...
