Strength:

The frame is a smooth ride. The 26" wheel bike is easy to toss and turn into the corners. The steel tubing smooths out sections of the ride. Nice sram x-9 components. Crank is stiff, and might i add shiney/good looking. Wheels are decent. Tires are good in dry conditions. Also this frame is extremely tough, i have taken some nasty diggers and hit hard terrain and no signs of dents, cracking, or fatigue.

Weakness:

Saddle has got to go, it is heavy and uncomfortable. Steel is a heavier frame but gary fisher has done a good job of minimizing the weight. Its not too noticeable, the steel ride characteristics make up for it. You can shave a lot of weight with a good set of wheels. Most of the bontrager parts are low end parts and have room for improvement ie stem, seat post, and handlebars. However they are still decent and more then plenty for the weekend rider. Alot of bike for what i paid for it.

If your only concern is weight I would not recommend this bike. However if your looking for an all a round weight, strength, and forgiving ride, this is an excellent option. Weight can be reduced through wheels, seat, and handle bars. Sram shifting is reliable and smooth. Very clean looking bike with simple decals. So my bottom line is I would buy another gary fisher ferrous if I had to do it all over again. She only got 4 flamin chilis because of those weight wennies out there who complain over every pound over the overall ride quality.

Weakness:

BONTRAGER PARTS (saddle not good, tires and disc are so so!!)
A little too expensive for getting Bontrager parts...
