Strength:

basically same as other guy
-great components
-price(got it on a half off sale boxing day)
-Well built

Weakness:

the forks, they are decent, and are good for what they are designed for doing, cross country. They are not what i expected when i bought it though. They are soft, and tend to bottom out easy. If your not planning on roughing it up, then you will be fine(can do hard trails, just not the big jumps/drops).

the pedals are cheap, all metal, but cheapies. go buy some decent platforms.

This bike is perfect for the kind of rider who likes to whoop it up on the trails on spare time. This bike can actually take a fairly good beating too. If you plan on being rough/ slightly extreme with this bike then invest into some new forks (marzocchi DJ's are what i'd recommend). the breaks, shifters, and all are really good components. I was surprised at the components you'd get on this bike, they are great. Anyone who rides this bike will notice the pedals aren't what you'd call 'top-notch' or even 'good' so go buy some decent pedals.

ALL IN ALL: this bike has surprised me, it can handle a **** load and more!

Similar Products Used: Ive heard giant has a couple bikes like it, but from what ive seen, and for the price i got, there aren't many, or any, i can think of.

Strength:

Components are stellar for this level of bike. Being new to XC riding, did not know what to look for. So many entry level rides out there.

Weakness:

I would say the saddle and post are the weakest. Alloy riser bars are pretty weak as well. Pedals will be changed soon too.

The components alone sold me on this bike. It is the 2007 model. The other bikes I listed had all lower level components compared to the Brodie. I did not hear of Brodie before I went to Cyclepath in my city. The sales people did not push me into any specific bike, but the Brodie Tempyst stood out to me. The price reduction had alot to do with it as well. Listed last year for $980, got it for $700 taxes included.
