Strength:

This frame & fork combo are as hard as coffin nails.
Good fun.
The spec is good for a bike in this price range.

Weakness:

Not the lightest bike out there.
The hard-core geomatry is a bit of a kick in the butt on bumpy trails after a long days riding.

Great bike. I love mine to bits.
Still running with most of the gear it came with after two years use & abuse. Use mine for X-country ,northshore, downhill, mucking about , you name it. Its not that light but then alas niether Im I anymore.

Strength:

Extraordinarily stout as well as multi-useful. I've ridden the thing for over three years now and have crashed countless times either commuting, on the trail, the occasional downhill, or light DJing. It just goes and goes. I love this bike. Also, the components on the stock set-up are more than adequate for my needs.

Weakness:

At first I thought it was a little heavy compared to XC machines (yeah, I know...it's not a XC bike) and also thought it was a slow climber. As my skills and technique have improved, so has the ease in which it climbs. In fact, now I enjoy the climb.

It certainly is no superfast cross country racer but if you need a general purpose/jack-of-all trades type bike, this is it. If you can find one: BUY IT. I use it for everything and have gotten used to the wide bars (you could trim them down). It may be slow going up, but you don't won't to be in front of it on the way down. Great bike...it's a tank. It's too bad that it's no longer in production.

Great handling and strength. Good stock component set. Drop Off Forks good, despite reading poor reviews. Great for jumping, compared with a XC bike. You can get around XC routes, but you won't be breaking any records.

Weakness:

Not much, yet.

This is a great bike for the money in the UK. It's a great all rounder, capable of anything. Not a great XC machine but you'd get away with it if you were on a tight budget. A great buy for jumping, especially if you don't want to buy a 14 or 15 " Dirt Jumping bike.

Strength:

rides very nice, tires a grippy, fork is responsive, it feels very beefy. bunny hops very well. haven't tried it on a trail yet cause its still winter here... but ive went offroad

Weakness:

the fork feals/sounds splashy, but that will be fixed once i get a shock pump and adjust it. the handle bars are a tad wide, but they can be cut down. the steerer tube is a bit long aswell, but it can too be shortened.

amazing price for the components (899cdn from 1600cdn, which is about 800us from 1400us), i wouldn't had got it if it was full price though, i would have just gotten the 06 norco rampage instead. but if you can find it cheap, and you are a beginner like me, this bike is perfect for you.

Bomb proof frame and best kit you can get for the money.

Weakness:

Isis BB, hayes brakes have no modulation at all!!

Was going to go for the bitter but instead got the ex- Demo Ged and am glad i did. Is such good fun to ride and makes you want to try new things, flattering your skills when you achieve your intended trick/ jump. makes you think your gods gift to cycling really quickly when in fact its the bike. Biggest problem is the BB tho i went through 2 in the last 6 months so after breaking second one have got a new hone system fitted, solves that problem and keeps it light. the brakes are phenominally powerfull but they feel very grabby and not as good as my mates hopes. fork good but am getting some Rock Shox Pikes ASAP to make it more versitile. Big earl kit faultless!! overall the perfect bike to get into getting off the ground and worth upgrading!!

Strength:

I actually have the 2006 Fisher GED. I would have to say that so far, its a great bike for the price. Awesome frame, pretty nice components group, good urban/dirt jumping bike

Weakness:

Not a fan of the hayes hydro disc brakes. The wheelset could use some work, sealed bearings possibly, stronger hoops.

Im a bike shop employ, and from just building and selling the '05 to the '06 is a big plus. They did put a nicer, longer travel fork on a "freeride" labeled bike. Other than that, the components group on the bike is nice, the wheelset is really the only place that i believe could be improved. Also, the frame is pretty light weight, yet still strong. All in all, its a very nice bike for someone who is looking to do urban riding and some dirt jumping.

Strength:

This bike is a tank, it will take whatever you can dish out to it. I'm a trials/ freeride/ urban rider, and have been waiting for a bike like this for quite a long time. The bike just feels like it belongs in the air, and will sail over anything you put it to. Lets just see how long until the frame snappes on me like every other bike I've owned.

Weakness:

Seat clamp is weak. When peddle kicking I get some major frame creek from the rear disk brake mount, not to really worry about. Front derailleur is pretty weak, has its problems. Rear hub is also pretty weak for those who ride trials. Too much play before it engages, throws your balance off when doing lurges, japslaps, gapshoots, and sketchy drop offs. All of which can be fixed with better componets.

I am very happy with this bike, and for the price you cannot beat what you get for it. It takes a beating like a unwanted step-child, and wants to be abused. Everything from the big hits, stair gaps, dirt jumping, trials, and downhill freeride. It's actually pretty good with distance riding for those who ride everywhere they go, like me. The solid black frame is a great looker, and looks even better when you sticker it up. Have fun ride safe, and ride free. Happy trails.

Strength:

Brakes, Bontrager Stuff, DriveTrain, Frame, Rims. The front suspension is amazing, 130mm are the salvation for Dirt Jumpers and Urban Riders(I like 130mm travel very much).

Weakness:

The Brakes are terrible to regulate, but is a fantastic brake and do its job very, very well.

Great bike for Dirt Jump and Urban. I think It's the best bike for the price.

Just don't try XC, It's not a XC Bicycle.

Wanna do some XC? Buy a adequate one, not a GED.

GED Rocks!

Strength:

Everything is good. This bike could benifit from a better stem, peddals, and maybe a seat. Great geometry the bike feels tall, Not like a back crunching bmx. The fork is great for this bike. The build is great for a cross country freeride.

Weakness:

The bars are too wide unless thats you'r thing. The drop off fork could at LEAST have a external rebound nob. (But the fork has good dampining).

This is a very worthy bike. I use it for cross country, Dirt jumping, and some freeriding. Of course. For a bike you wont need to chang any thing this is a great bike. Even the stock tires side walls can take some bashings. I would reccomend getting this for the freeriders who know that this is not a down hill bike. This bike can handle some thrashing, but not huge DOWNHILL drops. Great components around.
