Strength:

Burly, good looking in black (2011 frame). Takes the hits. Makes up for my small mistakes (though punishes me for the bigger mistakes haha). Good weight with single crown forks up front. Wide stock 750 bars.

Weakness:

Stock chain guide, X5 shifter & X7 derailleur.

Since I replaced a few parts from stock, she's been a beauty. Heavier spring on the van r shock and a swap to a 318 domain instead of the Boxxer RC's that came with it and she was a beast. I ditched my 2010 Cove Shocker and went with the big hit as I'm a free rider & enthusiast more than a racer, so far it's been more than capable

Strength:

Bike feels light as a feather in the saddle, VERY nimble and tracting as fast lines, does everything amazing on a trail or course except for climbing, sinks right into corners w/o any hesitation or chatter, rear end is flawless and does anything you want it to w/ proper set up, equipment on bike is top notch, no cheap crap anywhere, Specialized is rumored to have some of the best customer service, and while I haven't experienced any issues it's good to have the thought in the back of your head for peace of mind, parts are easy to find, didn't nuke my wallet, ergonomics in the cockpit feel perfect, nice and roomy but not bulky.

Weakness:

Extended uphill climbs can be a PITA but other than that I have not one single bad thing I can even think of to say about this bike.

I'm 6'6" and finding a large frame bike is hard enough, finding one that fits you like it was made for you is next to impossible. I've ridden a few DH bikes, owned a Mongoose Boot'R for about 5 weeks before picking this up, the Big Hit blows me away. I'm not a loyal brand junky, I obsess over what works, and to the point this does. Imo, it rides just as great as an "older" Demo model, just with a shorter wheelbase and is way easier to pedal. Most of my riding consists of freeride sections mixed w/ DH, and this thing bosses everywhere. I haven't ridden w/ the Mars forks that come w/ the bike as mine came w/ Boxxers so I can't speak on how the bike is OEM. But as it is in it's current state, there's nothing this bikes needs to do whatever I want it to.

Strength:

Very rugged, glides over boulders, heavy in a good way. Nothing on the bike ever breaks loose. Never had a flat tire thou biked in very rocky trails. Considering the price I got it for, it is the awesomest deal ever.

Weakness:

N/A, although stock fork needs to be upgraded

Awesome bike for big guys, don't buy it if you don't have it in you to push it up the hill.

Strength:

Super stiff and it has that heavy stable feel to it, not crazy heavy but its got some weight. It eats up everything and keeps on rollin. Looks pretty sick

Weakness:

Rock shox 302 domain fork is sort of a joke, the fox van r shock sorta sucks but it works and gets the job done, the avid juicy 4s arent to bad but not great, cable and brake line are routed under the frame but thats an easy fix, paint chips way to easy.

Its a sweet bike for freeride and some downhill use. YES there are better bikes out there, but for the price you can get them for its your best bang for you buck hands down. Buy one and (try to) beat it to death....it just wont die. Its a good bike for anyone whose looking to get into freeriding and downhilling, im sure anyone but serious racers and wallet jockeys will love this bike.

Strength:

Strong and sturdy frame, lot of bike for the price, built to take a beating.

Weakness:

Paint chips quite easily, brakes can be noisy sometimes but doesn't affect performance.

I bought the 2009 big hit fsr II because I was looking into getting into some real downhill. I rode a hardrock to SHREDS, and needed a new bike. So far I'm satisfied with the bighit. I can trust it when going mach 1 through rock gardens, or launching gaps and drops. I find that the lower end fork and shock are enough for me. I prefer the single chainring up front, less stuff to worry about, this bike isn't meant for pedaling anyway, although its not toooo hard. If you care about what your bike looks like, watchout because the paint chips mega easy. Bottom line, great first downhill bike, instead of pushing the bikes limits I'm now pushing my limits.

Strength:

Great product for the price. It has a lot of suspension and is a beast. It can take anything and I have never gotten a flat with the huge tread either. Also, it has hydraulic brakes. Those who dislike many of the parts either need to adjust it or should have expected it when they bough it.

Weakness:

Heavy though in a good way, but the seat clamp is terrible and the pedals aren't the best.

This is a great bike for the price that will take anything you throw at it. The weaknesses are to be expected when you buy it and many of the parts are adjustable but it is a great bike. It isn't top of the line but works well.

Strength:

Really Strong bike, handles everything perfectly, really nice/strong forks, chunder tyres grip really well in wet conditions. the sram x9 derailure set is really dominating.

Weakness:

the paint can chip easy, the chain guide isnt in the best spot - its tightening point goes straight into the chainstay and takes allot of paint off there. the grips will need replacing really quick. the stock chunder tyres dont handle well in dry dirt. brakes moan really loud in hot conditions, high pitch squeaking in wet conditions.

This bike is great and i have never used a bike this good. it isnt the best on loose ground, but handles really well when the ground is slightly wet or moist. the pedal bob isnt very nice, but that happens to most DH bikes.
the bike is perfect if you are beggining to get into some DH/fr and have a budget of less than 2000. the bike is really easy to adapt to.

Strength:

seems real sturdy , handled everything i have thrown at it. Heavyish but in a good way.

Weakness:

Cant find an on top bike rack , too heavy for all of them.
Only 9 gears. One more rotor at the front would have been nice.

Awsome bike if you dont like downhill but want something that can do thr slopes and not be too hard going up hill and stonge enoough to handle downhill. Cant believe the Big Hit in the US has Marzocchi forks
