Strength:

Good suspension that doesn't fight you when you pedal. Nice geometry for confidence inspiring runs. Geometry will also allow you to ride up hills when the seat is up so you can get your fitness from it too instead of just hucking down hills and off stairs although it does feel good to jump stairs on. Groupset is budget but a great place to start out on your upgrading as things deteriorate and/or break around the bomb proof frame and forks. Don't know how so many people have broke the rear triangle as its taken my 14-15 stone for 5 years of hard riding. All I can think of is that they were unlucky or just bad skills.

Weakness:

Bit heavy for old legs but if you're fit and you want an all mountain bike bike for second hand money then I see no weaknesses.

Good all rounder. What you lose to your friends on the uphills you'll more than gain on the downhills. I can say that the travel seems to vacuum the fun out of all but the most technical and rough trails by making them too easy. Makes rock gardens feel like tarmac. This is not a xc bike so don't expect it to perform like one and its nots a balls out down hill bike so anyone expecting that will be disappointed. It is a good early all mountain bike and your smile will be smugger than anyone that hasn't nade the comprimise. 5 years later and you're seeing 5-6 inch travel on every fun bike out there so gt definitely had it right when they released this beast.

rides great on down hill wheeles great is a great bike for jumping but needs different forks.breakes are the beast i have ever used.

Weakness:

swing arms suck broke the swing arm and it took 2 months for gt to send part. forks also bottom super easy.rims are not the strongest

is a good bike but has a terible swing arm and need some different componets. is a good bike to get if you are starting downhilling but doesnt hold up great on bigger jumps.

Strength:

the bike is very stable when the chip is flipped to the slacker head tube setting. the suspension is plush and its reasonably light weight for what it is supposed to do. the brakes are wonderful once they brake in (no pun intended!)The front end lofts extremely easy and its fun to ride.

Weakness:

none yet other than its climbing ability but who cares its a freeride bike right

overall I think that its the only way to go if your a freerider who likes to ride to the top of the hill instead of be shuttled or take a lift.

Strength:

Great handling bike with good parts spec, Its caries a bit of weight but if your over 85kgs who's counting

Weakness:

Don't get the bike wet or the main pivot will crap out, mine lasted less than 10 months and cost $180 to get fixed.

Even with the crap main pivot weakness (don't let water near this bike)this is a great bike and stacks up well. But be aware that the NZ distributor does not stand behind the product.

Strength:

None

Weakness:

Single pivot design, brake jacking, cheaply built

I rode this bike about three times before I determined it absolutely sucks. Downright dangerous. Non responsive, non trustworthy. Broke the rear shock liknkage on the third ride and then took the parts off and abandoned the bike. Put the parts on my xtx moto. Still have the frame and rear shock if anyone wants to buy it. A close look at the frame shows that it is cheaply built. Your money is better spent on anything with a 4bar or vpp linkage. This bike will disappoint you unless you havn't got a clue. Deserves no chilies. GT should stick to toys are us and walmart.

Strength:

Can take mean bombs and resembles a firearm, which - for some - excites the libido. GT's best design with a great stance (low).

Weakness:

Now that they put the 2.5 inch WTB tires on there, to find fault with the factory set-up would be unreasonable nit-picking.

The Ruckus rates "The Wildman's choice" by anyone who knows better. It's a tank that handles like a smaller, more nimble, armored vehicle. If you're looking for a 6-8 inch freeride bike for 1000 (used) to 2500 (new) I recommend this one or the Specialized Big Hit, or the Iron Horse SGS. The Iron Horse is a strong, strong monster. So, if you also are strong, you may prefer that one. Most 2000 dollar bikes are built well and perform well (let's say 92% of them) so just play the odds and pick one already. Come on! Let's all have a good time out there.

Strength:

good design idrive rides well juicy 7 brakes are awesome best yet ive tried

Weakness:

so far i have found it mostly too be a reliable ride very nice to ride on faster trails....but the main pivot bearing was getting a bit sloppy so into shop for service only too find that this factory fitted roller bearing had been missing a few rollers and galled the pivot bush.now to add to the last view from n.z. about warrenty i have had no help or resolution from W.H.Worrells our dist. not only did they not cover even part of the replacment costs they also took 2 months too supply the parts Grrrrrr. have contacted GT about their services so well see what happens

good alround bike and fun too throw around and jump soaks up fast ruts nicely and very predictable handling. just beware of slack distributor services in your area.happy trails.

Strength:

Strong frame. No faults what so ever.

Weakness:

position chip nuts broken. replaced with custom made bolts and nuts.

THis is absolutely great bike. I enjoy every minute riding this bike. Its handling is precise and the suspension, can match new designs that came up. The suspension is plush and i have no plans to upgrade to DHX shox. The fork upgrade was worthwhile. It doesn't dissapoint me. all other components is doing ok. no comment there. But the bike is really really good. The experience on this bike is non comparable to other bikes on the market. Its fun to ride and very inspiring.

Strength:

Great handling bike on the ground and in the air.Especially when accompanied with a good front shock.

Weakness:

welds on rear swing arm around the main pivot point crack.Had my frame welded up by pro was told original welds were not very good.Have 2 other friends with same frames and their frames, after close inspection have cracked aswell.NOT GOOD.GT does not sell rear swing arms seperatly? Got local bike shop to ring GT they did not want to know about it.swing arm needs sealled bearings to be smoother through its travel. Can only use the MRP chain guide that cost a fortune.

It's not a matter of if the rear swing arm welds will brake but when.If you don't jump much over 4-5 feet the frame should last alot longer. The bike handles sweetly but my next frame will not be a GT due to the weakness in the rear swing arm and GT's lack of interest in the matter,The 2005 frame is still the same!
