Kona Stuff DJ/MtnX

Available At:

We chose the name Stuff for a number of reasons. Stuff it into the ground and it'll bounce right back up. Stuff a bunch of extra cash in your wallet and still own a damn good bike. Ride through the city, bomb through the country, and see a whole whack of cool Stuff along the way. You get the picture.

    Strength:

Bombproof frame, very versatile, not too heavy.

    Weakness:

    None

Very satisfied with this frame, can't say about the complete bike as I bought just the frame then built it up custom. However, the complete spec seems pretty solid and durable. Anyway onto the frame, my favorite thing about this bike is how versatile it is - it is my only bike as of now and I've ridden it on pretty much everything you can thing of. I've done 20+ mile trail rides, sessioned the skatepark with it, ridden DH flow trails with it, dirt jumped with it of course, and hit up our local pumptrack with it. Although it is marketed as a DJ bike, the geometry of it allow for riding trails and light downhill as well. Awesome all-around hardtail - ride anything, anytime, anywhere.

    Strength:

amazing forks brakes and rims. frame is very strong.

    Weakness:

crank comes loose time to time.

this is a good bike to learn dirt jumping. i love the forks, ajustable compretion and rebound, and very easy to menover. you just can't brake this bike. I've had this bike for 7 months doing lots of dirt jumping and downhill trails. i have crashed many times and the only thing so far i've only needed to tighten the crank.

    Strength:

forks are awsome so are the rims, hussefelt howitzers, and the hayes hfx 9 breaks.

    Weakness:

front and back derailers are pretty cheap, but havnt replaced them yet, grips are lame...they slide off after a while....like a few months

iv ridden this downhill, distance and at the dj park, this bike is light, takes a beating and does not let you down, i have not needed to leave it at the shop for more then 1 hour. iv had more problems with the people that sold it to me then the bike its self. this bike is quite awsome. price was canadian

    Strength:

frame, headset and bars, brakes, cranks all very solid

    Weakness:

rims were very easy to buckle, rear derailluer was sh*t house (never using shimano derailleurs again), fork seals blew out on first week

not a bad bike really, had a medium size frame which seemed a bit shorter than other bikes ridden. sun ditch witch rims were extremly easy to buckle, rear derailluer was the worst i've ever used (got caught in spokes which ruined derailluer and bent the hanger), the air shocks were too much of a hassle because you'd either put in too much air or not enough air, fork seals had to be done within first week of riding. i would recomend ugrading forks, wheelset and derailluer to a sram item

    Strength:

    brakes,forks,grips,handlebars

    Weakness:

The Kona DJ seat can be a little uncomfortable sometimes.

I think for under 1 thousand dollars, this is the best deal I have seen. I would recommend this bike to anybody spending less than 1 thousand dollars on a DJ or trail bike.

Jon   Cross Country Rider [Apr 07, 2009]
    Strength:

Invincible. You just can't break this thing! Awesome for learning to jump on. Dirt jumper 2 forks are brilliant, seat is comfy, and the stroker ryde brakes are very sharp.

    Weakness:

Nasty wheels, changed them quickly. First attempt at stopping at speed nearly threw me over handlebars, you need to get used to the brakes. Hard to wheelie aswell.

Fantastic bike for the money, few minor changes, but nothing to beat the bike down about. It will handle anything, and it can take crash after crash. Would reccomend to anyone.

    Strength:

Strong frame, nice forks, awesome brakes.

    Weakness:

Seat post and Seat. I had to replace both.

This is my "do it all bike". I use it for 18+ mile cross country rides, weekends downhilling, freeriding, & dirt jumping. I have ridden this bike in Pennsylvania, Rays Indoor Mountain Bike Park in Ohio, Downhilling in Swain New York, Downhilling in Plattekill New York, Manhattan New York, and at Diablo Freeride park in New Jersey. The bike handles awesome for the I price paid.
