Strength:

tough

Weakness:

heavy (32 lb.)

Okay, so I still own the 96. It is more of a mtb than the 99. I have done a few upgrades to it. One thing that bugs me is the short top tube. Probably the best thing on the bike are the tires. Nice fat things that gripe almost anything.

Strength:

Basic, entry-level mountain bike with some components found on higher-priced bikes. "Best value for money" bike sold in the shop. Strong, no-nonsense, durable frame and components to interest both an entry-level buyer and an experienced rider. Looks good too!

Weakness:

Steel frame, though strong, is on the heavy side.

A solid blend of performance and value that would appeal to both the novice and the veteran rider. The bike is ready for mountain and forest paths, and the hard-pack trails as well.
