Strength:

Price! Beats any department store bike!

Weakness:

Heavy, rear granny gear only has 24 teeth

Okay, I'm not going to go on about this bike, it is 100% entry-level...

Long story short, my girlfriend's parents bought her little brother (age 10) a bike for his birthday... Unfortunately, they weren't exactly sure what to look for, so ended up getting him a nice looking FULL SUSPENSION 80 lb. beast from a chain sports store for $350!

He loved the way it looks (kids, you know) so I took him for a ride on the nice easy single-tracks around the UBC endowment lands...

Poor kid could hardly pick the bike up :(

Luckily, I was able to take it back, and head to my favourite bike shop and pick up this Peugot for $400 (CAD). It had everything we needed; quick releases on both wheels and seat, V-brakes, etc... It is a bit heavy but what do you expect with an entry level bike? It's a feather compared to that steel piece of crap they got him

Anyway, we still need to get the higher granny gear, he is still only 10 after all, and it should surely help him... But once that is done, he'll have a great bike to learn on, and hopefully can build some experience to step up in the near future!
