Strength:

Light, climbs great, good even on downhill, sweet looks

Weakness:

no weaknesses whatsoever

Before this bike i was a devoted full suspension rider. I saw this on craigslist for a killer deal amd decided not to pass it up. i now know why so many guys that ride hardtails refuse to switch to full suspension. This bike climbs great. You can be out of the saddle on steep climbs with no problems. tracks well on the downhill. dont think ill ever go back to a full suspension.

Strength:

Light, good steering, still the best today

Weakness:

none

Had a 2000 Zaskar LE which I totally rebuilt to new spec components and loved it. Very fast! Sold it and I missed it and could never get it out of my head. Always wanted a 2001 but good ones are now too expensive. So bit the bullet and got an excellent used one and rebuilt it. I will never sell this bike. GT needs to re-release the Zaskar Team colors from 2001 in aluminum. They will sell a ton of them. The bike accelerates like a scared cheetah, climbs like a gecko, and basically will rock your world. People who have never ridden a Zaskar will not understand this. Those that have ridden the older Zaskars get it. It may not be about the bike for Lance, but it sure is about the bike if it is a 2001 GT Zaskar Team. This is a race configuration so has a longer top tube than normal.

Strength:

Body geometry (this says it all), Colors (yellow & blue), strength.....

Weakness:

none..maybe the Cane Creek integrated headset, but after our LBS here got a hold of it and told me what's wrong, no problems after that.

Built this bike from the ground up with some of the best components (except for the seatpost). Climbs like a scared monkey - absolutely fabulous. Has the best steering of any bike that I have ridden. Probably the best cross country bike there is today (too bad GT has lost the business). Ride one and you will be surprise how light and nimble it is, especially climbing uphill. This bike deserves 5 flaming fires not only for the performance but for the dollar value itself.

Strength:

this bike is very strong. love the triple triangle.

Weakness:

what weaknesses?

I built this bike from all of these pieces that i had bought off supergo.com. it would be too expencive to buy the real zaskar team so i bought the frame and stuff. The bottom line is this bike kicks ass over all the other competition hardtails on the market. this thing can climb like nothin' and can handle like a dream. I have wasted guys on full suspensions before on this bike. if you have the chance to buy one DO IT!!!!!!!!!
weight to specific specifications = 22.3 pounds

Similar Products Used: Schwinn moab. I didn't like it, it was to far forward and handles like crap compaired to the Zaskar.

Strength:

Light weight and stiff. Great paint job!

Weakness:

Integrated headset.......I would rather use a Chris King

This baby was built from the ground up with love! Got the frame for a bargain basement price and used the money I saved on some high end parts. It rides like a dream. Tracks well on the rough trails and climbs with ease on the hills. This will probably be the last year that GT makes a high end hardtail since they've gone bankrupt. If you want the best hardtail available on the market, don't hestitate to buy this bike!!!

Sum b*tch looks good...rides good...stops good...doesn't get ANY better than this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Picked up a nearly new frame on ebay and bought everything else thru online stores or thru ebay. Researched every product thoroughly on mtbREVIEW many times before deciding on final build. VERY HAPPY with final result!

Strength:

This bike is the most perfect bike i've ever ride and the easton alu t-6 frame says it all.

Weakness:

none

GT ZASKAR TEAM 2001 is the greatest bike ever at least i think it is , it's verry light and real stiff like a real good hardtail should be. It can take a hell lots beating and still don't break trust me on this one. It's a little bit to expencive for all regular riders but i think it is the best XC machine ever!!!

Strength:

Still stiff and light very light

Weakness:

Intergrated headset, I never liked the idea and there seems to be a little play with it. I am also a little nervous about GT being bought by Huffy and what happends if I need a replacement.

Gt's rep says it all, but who knows what Huffy getting in the picture is going to do

Strength:

Strong, stiff, and extremely light what more could you ask for? How about the fact that it's custom made by Easton.

Weakness:

Don't care for the integrated headset but it does its job well. (Of course supergo says that it doesn't come with a headset.)

This is the best bike I've ever used. From its light weight to the strenght of the components. After several rides the bike has broken in well and still preforms better than anything I've ridden. If you can afford I would get it soon supergo has dropped the price to $400, a great price for the high quality frame such as this.

Strength:

Light, Stiff, responsive, excellent geometry

Weakness:

none

This is an excellent all around bike. I have had had it since 2002 and have logged endless miles without any complaints. It's an extremely lightweight hard tail with great climbing geometry, which I was able to buy at an unbelievable price. I bought this frame as a blowout when GT bicycles changed owners and stopped producing bikes for a short time. I use the bike for XC racing and used it for the previous 2 years for all my MTB riding. Because of its aluminum frame it's a little harsh, but if you’re concerned with weight and quality it easy to overlook this negative ride characteristic. On the other hand aluminum is very stiff and climbs great. I built the bike with an XTR drive train, Spinergy Cyclone wheels, Avid Juicy 7 disc brakes, Fox Float RLC fork, Answer pro taper bars, Easton CT-2 post, Easton EA-70 stem, Crank Brothers Egg Beater pedals, Elite Ciusi bottle cage, and Sele Italia SLR saddle. Total weight 22.8lbs. This bike blows expensive hard-tail makers like, Lightspeed, Seven Cycles, Giant XTC, etc..., out of the water. If you’re lucky enough to get your hands on one of these bad boys used, pick it up and count yourself lucky.
