All Mountain Rider

Strength:

Good lightweight bike for a beginner or lightweight intermediate rider. It handles predictably and has a decent component package.

Weakness:

Frame!!!!! I weigh 190 pounds and ride all mountain type trail with the occasional jump or drop thrown in. On my 2011 frame i cracked the front triangle within one year. Khs was very good about honoring their warranty. They sent me a 2012 frame for a replacement, sweet! But within a year and a half i had cracked the front triangle again, broken the chainstay bridge, and finally last week I broke the seatstays on both sides! Just a weak frame. Now my bike is 2 years old and out of warranty, so I'm out a bunch of money because i need to buy a different frame.

I also had allot of problems with the rear shock, but thats more of a problem with Rockshox than Khs.

If you are a normal sized person and intend to ride this bike like an "all mountain" rider, the frame probably wont take it.

All Mountain Rider

Strength:

Value for money, the bike comes specced with components that are solid and reliable for a mid range level trailbike. The revelation forks with dual air are stiff, light, reliable and easy to maintain. The Mavic rims are strong and run true, X7/X9 drivetrain works well, as do the avid brakes. Kore cockpit with proper 740mm bars is a bonus too. Its all good gear at this price.

Weakness:

Frame/ rear shock. I never managed to get the bike to ride how I wanted it, I found the rear shock blew through its travel far too fast, even while running 10-15% sag, which in turn removed all small bump compliance. I thought I may have had a dud shock with something wrong with the compression damping, so when It stopped holding air pressure I sent it in to get rebuilt hoping it would ride higher in its travel, keeping something in reserve for actual bumps, while letting me keep a predictable head angle,However, this wasn't to be.

I also found the rear end of the bike to suffer from alot of flex. This was most noticeable when pumping through fast bermed corners, it felt like the tyre was rolling off the rim. The shock instantly bottoming out whilst attempting to pump though obstacles didnt help. The swingarm ended up cracking the chainstay bridge after about 9 months.

As far as being a reliable, cheap lightweight cross country bike for a beginner/ intermediate rider who mainly rides flat or conservatively hilly terrain this bike would be excellent for you, however if you like to make the most of your descents, you might want something with a slightly stronger, stiffer frame. I never felt confident enough on this bike to hit any of the exciting stuff on a trail, limiting it to very small doubles and sub 2 foot drops, however it still cracked the swingarm after 9 months during a regular trailride.

I have since upgraded to a stumpy evo, which cost twice the price yet has mostly the same componentry as the KHS, which again shows the fantastic value of the KHS. However, I believe the stumpjumper is definitely twice the bike.

Strength:

Great bike. Show case bike of KHS. more value worth for the. Money with great part offer. May be double the price if you buy other this spec , 140 mm revelation is great. Great break package worth money

Weakness:

Only 2 point weakness
1.Tires WTB NOT TRACK SO GOOD!
Better to replace more aggressive tires. Such as. Maxxis Advantage or Nevagal
At least 2.2 up size
2. Wheel hub better to replace after use it , for a while. To be harder stiff hubs.
That it all

If you ride this style all mountain and looking for new bike consider this one , it hard to find now since it 2011 model and it hunt by rider who seek for money worth and not wanna upgrade any thing important , just ride it
Have fun .

All Mountain Rider

Strength:

excellent on all trail types , components are top drawer , set up is simple just follow the procedures from rocshock. very comfortable ride.

Weakness:

non at all

i had a stump jumper before my khs but i prefer the ride of the khs over it. there is a roughly 3 lb difference in weight but the geometry of the khs makes up for that , don't even notice the difference. the frame is tough and durable. and the finish (paint) is a one. there is nothing cheap or low grade about this bike.

Strength:

frame geometry / suspension performance / weight / value!! It's not a spesh/trek/marin

Weakness:

Non so far

I wanted more travel than the 125 from my trusty Trance X (a great bike)and ..... wow this bike rocks - 140mm travel with great suspension performance from the Rock Shox front and rear ends. The spec is top bang for the buck / pound(£)too. The customer service from KHS UK was superb (thanks Steve) with loads of advice throughout the purchase
