Shimano Slippery Spitt Lube

Shimano Slippery Spitt Lube

DESCRIPTION

A wet, petroleum-based chain and cable lube that reduces friction, prevents corrosion and extends the life of rubber seals. Sure it's just lube. And the Himalayas are just hills.

Strength:

Keeps the derailleurs smooth, good for cables. Nice dispenser.

Weakness:

Attracts dirt

I suppose this stuff does it's job. It comes in a little tube and has a needle on the end so there's not much waste. I always try to wipe away any excess, but it still attracts dirt. Oh well, you can't have it all.

Strength:

Best cable lube I've ever found.

Weakness:

I wouldn't use this as a chain lube.

Don't bother using this stuff as chain lube. There are a ton of other products out for that purpose. Where this product excels is as a cable lube and general purpose lube (derailleurs, etc). I bought an early 80's bike to convert to singlespeed. The brake cables sucked, I thought I would need new housings and cables. However, a couple drops of Slippery Spitt into the housing ends and the brakes feel like new. I'm talking Ultegra new, not 80's crappy brake new. The needle helps a lot too. Right now I'm using this lube to keep some old stir plates alive at work. Everything else I've used just gets gummed up after a month or so and needs to be reapplied.

Strength:

um pretty good for cables. goes good on chains too.cleans off very easily.and it is not affected by temperature amplitudes... one bottle goes a long time.does not have the classic motor oil smell, which is good if you keep your bike in your room like me.

Weakness:

washes off in a wet ride and it tends to dry up quickly.

good stuff. I mean c'mon,it's a freakin' lube for pete's sake!what do you expect from it?the stuff does it's job. period.

Strength:

Inexpensive (relatively). No real problems with it on my road bike.

Weakness:

Lasts 2 rides max, washes off (stream crossings) quickly, ttracts dust.

Probably a fine lube for a road bike, but not an effective lube (attracts dust, washes off easily, etc.) on a mtn. bike.

Strength:

slippery
sheds mud well
awesome shifting

Weakness:

collects dust and dirt (way less than pedros though)

Ultimate shifting with this lube. Shifts way better than wax, but unlike wax, collects dust. Shifts just as good as pedros synlube, but w/ pedros you had to clean ur cogs and chain after every ride. With slippery spitt all you need to do is apply a generous coat and wipe chain dry, and this thing will last for a good week.

Strength:

Works well on a fishing reel.

Weakness:

But not so well on a bike.

Not horrible stuff, just not as good as Pro Link. It lubes well when new but only lasts a few hours. Runs pretty clean for a wet lube, but washes off on a wet ride.

BTW, I wasn't kidding - it really is good on a fishing reel.
