This light rocks. If you want an indestructable light, that is really bright, and adjustable, with good battery life, this is the ticket. Sometimes night rides are much more fun, then the crowded day trip. Recently rode from silverton to durango on the CO trail, almost all above 10,000ft, when it got dark, I was glad I had the Darkends with me.

No cupholder.

This light rocks! Steve from DarkEnds built me a digital 20Watt helmet mounted lamp that just rips. The new digital circuit ensures that it's always running at full steam- no brownouts!- and it seems to run just about forever. It's been out for three hour stints without fading thus far, which is a LOT longer than my old Nightrider. The light is clear, strong and bright enough to scorch your corneas. Steve's new remote switch system is perfect. The lamp is fully adjustible and doesn't wobble around. Great stuff! I recommend Darkends to anyone!

NightRider Digital Headtrip

Bright enough to blind all oncoming riders. You can see far up the road or bike trail. Uses standard MC-11 bulb with cover so you can change to any of 3 beam widths and wattages of 12 or 20 safely. Nifty contoller to vary light to 4 different levels, all sufficient for riding.

For the money the bulb housing could've been better designed. Binding screw fell out and power cable not anchored well going into housing. Light blinks when battery is low but not for long.

Recommended if you value your safety when riding at night. Any future bike of mine will have one of these on it. Can imagine this light with a wide-angle bulb would be dynamite in the woods.

Nothing similar - just simple incandescent lights and LEDs but nothing is in this class. These are useful only as beacons, i.e. to be seen by others. They don't allow YOU to see anything much.

Simplicity, brightness, burn time

No bells and whistles (if that's a weakness)

This is my first light purchased (after much review) and I am very pleased. My requirements were only that the light work, without fail, no fancy gadgets to get in the way or jack up the price, and, of course, see where in the hell I was going. This light is all that. Simple and very bright. I have been out longer than expected and crashed more than excusable, yet the light never dimmed nor faultered.
