Vaude Karakorum Expedition Panniers Bags

Karakorum Expedition Panniers

The full enchilada for life off the edge. More standard features than your tricked out ride. 3 large bags zipped together form a rear pannier set-up worthy of the name "expedition". The top bag converts to a full-blown daypack. And a built-in raincover protects the whole thing, what else. Volume: 46 L (3000 in3)

Built in backpack, strong zippers, light weight, fast and solid attachment system, built in rain cover

one of the four attachment clips broke during trip

After a week of rough dirty roads in western China I expected to have some problems gear, but my panniers did fine. Good amount of space and compartments for what I needed and the zippers holding everything together were well placed and held up to the abuse. The back pack feature was brilliant and got used every day. The attachment system worked well and was very quick to place and remove but one of the clips did break off during the trip. It still road solid with the clip missing and the shop replaced the part as soon as I got back. During heavy rain the built in rain cover was invalueable and kept the pack dry. If it wasn't for the failed clip I would have to give 5 chilis, but there is some room for improvement of quality it seems.
