Strengths:
Made for me, in the colors I wanted. Light, seems strong but nothing tells me otherwise...
Weaknesses:
None so far.

Bike Setup:
SID WorldCup fork, Spinergy Xyclone Disc wheels, Hope MonoMiniPro SS brakes, AC Carbon cranks, Stronglight Zycral chainrings, C.Bros Cobalt Ti BB, XTR front mech, X-0 rear mech and shifters, Syntace post and stem, RaceFace NextSL bars, King headset, JagWire GoldMedal shift cable, C.Bros pedals, Hope clamp and skewers, Conti/Maxxis tires, Ceramic pulleys, carbon inner plate from RSP Composites (rear derailleur)
Bottom Line:
It's 23 lbs. Shockingly light. Fox RP23 does it's job, the rest of the parts are already tested beyond necessity, so I know I won't have issues... but my Ti hardtail was 18.7 lbs. Not a lot of difference. Anyone who picks up this bike gets a dropped jaw, since it looks like it ought to weigh 40lbs. Nope, 23... and I am pretty happy about it. Being that the SID and Yeti paint are matched... I don't want anything else... Unless someone has a Pushed R7 Carbon Manitou they don't want... haha

Strengths:
Wonderful simple single pivot frame. Works a treat and matched with the RP23 fox shock ---- BOB has left the building!
Weaknesses:
Slightly bumpy if down hilling with RP23 shock in pro pedal mode. If you are on th money with flicking it over to open valve prior to down hill sections the yeti just steps up one more level.

I looked at 4 differnt frames and narrowed it done to the Yeti. It took me a full year to research all the parts and to build. This is my first full suspension. I love this bike with a passion! I really enjoy riding this bike it is unbelievable easy to get up hills.

Bottom Line:
One of the best, if not the best light weight racing full suspension bikes in the world, it may cost an arm and a leg, but its worth every penny. It is fast enough to be a race machine, but strong and fun enough to be a training bike, and just a plain fun bike.
To see that single pivots work on XC race bikes, push on the nose of the saddle, no bob, press on the back, and it sinks into the travel, just how it should be stiff for climbing and very active for decending

Light, quick, great composure while descending, very little bob, great company
Weaknesses:
Single Pivot
Similar Products Used:

Bike Setup:

Bottom Line:
I love this bike. It climbs as fast as my HT ever did, yet has amazing descending and cornering abilities. I train on the bike as well, so it gets all the day to day abuse on technical terrain.
Mine weighed in at 5.1 lbs for a medium, so my entire build is 23.4lbs without resorting to any crazyness.
The Horst link designs have a plusher feel in the rear, as this ride relies on the RP23 to keep bob in check. The shock does it's job well and keeps the ride very efficient.

Strengths:
Relatively light, carbon swingarm
Weaknesses:
Carbon swingarm did crack on just "normal" XC trails.
Similar Products Used:
Specialized
Bike Setup:
XTR and SRAM, Sid 80 mm, Crossmax SL
Bottom Line:
I put on the Sid 80 mm to (a) increase the headtube angle and make it better for singletrack (worked), and (b) lighten up the bike for XC racing. I think YETI is an awesome company and this bike smoked the Specialized in all aspects. There was a bob in the rear shock that drove me a little nuts (may have helped with some technical climbing), and I sold the frame because it really was just too heavy for racing XC. They say 4.8ish pounds, but felt more. The angles were sweet, wheelbase perfect, chainstay length awesome. IF you are racing XC, you can go carbon chain and seatstay, save 1 to 2 lbs, and do fine. IF you are simply a solid XC rider (not racer) and want a relatively light frame, this is it. Would I buy another one? Probably not, but I won't ever regret riding this bike over 14+ hours a week for well over 1.5 years.

Price Paid:
$1550.00
Purchased At:

Strengths:
climbs great, like a hardtail with shock locked out and not too much bob with shock free lateral stiffness, predictable handling for fast descents solid, predictable handling
Weaknesses:
2004 frame was built with some halfway decent stuff and some leftover stuff from the seller's garage
Similar Products Used:
2000 specialized stumpjumper FSR XC Pro
Bike Setup:
Fox RL AVA rear shock Avid SD7 V brakes XT shifters, deuraillers, crank Rock Shox Duke SL U-Turn 63-108mm front shock
Bottom Line:
This is an awesome bike! I strongly recommend it for any X/C or trail rider who is looking for a lightweight, solid, 4" travel bike. It climbs great, the handling is fast and predicatable, and the frame feels very solid in all circumstances I have encountered. Weighs about the same as the old stumpy with similar components, but is much more solid and has a more stretched geometry for more stable handling. The only thing I am missing in this garage-built bike is the new bike feel. The brakes and shifting are not so crisp, but for the money I am satisfied. I'll upgrade to disc when the wheels get old and upgrade to better cables soon to help the brakes and shifting in the meantime.
