Description:The 02 RC takes the concept of the 02 RL one step further.
While it loses the simplicity of one adjustment lever, by separating the adjustability Functions to a compression lever and a rebound knob, the results are much broader Range of adjustability for the experienced rider.
The compression setting can be set very light for an efficient setting for hard pedaling.

    Date Reviewed: April 23, 2007
    Duration Product Used:3 months
    Price Paid: $100.00
    Purchased At:ebay
Strengths:Very light, i thought they shipped me an empty box, lock out is useful. Sufficient for XC riding, and will begin to use the full travel on 2-5 ft vertical drops onto flat cement depending on how brutal you land. I am 165 lbs, my bike is 31 lbs. Does a good job at dampering the bounce.
Weaknesses:Decals look cheap, rebound adjustment doesn't do much. Needs a lizard skin to keep it clean otherwise you will have the creaking problem when the oil runs low.
Similar Products Used:my first airshock, only dampered and undampered springs before.
Bottom Line:great value for the money if you don't mind the looks and maintanance (oiling it a bunch). However it will not be sufficient if you are taking more than 5 ft drops regularly.

Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
    Purchased At:came stocked
Strengths:holds in extreme winterweather , up north. easy adjustibel, more or less a lock out that works but doesnt really block 100 %, great service
Weaknesses:bottom out on jumps, the placment off the ventil for airpressure can make it difficult to fitt the shock in the frame and still be able to fiddle with the presure, i broke to ventils doing so,great service though.like said, i can't gett it to block it 100 % and it gets a strange kinda rebound wenn in lock position, a katapult kinda like wenn you hit deep hole's, not the same smooth rebound wenn you have the schock in open position with slow rebound

Bottom Line:light, adjustibel but not top notch

Submitted by Jake a Cross Country Rider from Denver, CO, USA
    Date Reviewed: March 14, 2007
    Duration Product Used:1 Year
Purchased At:Stock on bike from LBS
Strengths:Lockout feature is nice. Good customer service from X-Fusion
Weaknesses:Requires constant lubrication or it will lock up! Required constant monitoring of air pressure every 3-4 rides.
    Similar Products Used:Fox RP3
Bike Setup:2006 Specialized XC Comp. Maverick SC32 fork, Chris King/Mavic 819 Disc wheelset, Avid Juicy 5's, Race Face Crankset, SRAM X.O drive train, Easton bars and stem.
Bottom Line:After about 30 miles of riding (with good cleaning between short rides) the shock started making some very interesting "creaks" and other noises. Finally during one less than aggressive warm-up ride, the shock completely locked up about 2/3 through its travel and froze until I evacuated the air. Took it to LBS who sent it back to X-Fusion for warranty. Got a new replacement and although no lock-ups, the shock doesn't seem very consistent with compression and rebound. One minute it's as plush as can be, and the next it's ready to throw you off...with the same settings. Good customer service from X-Fusion...overall bad experience with product.

    good performance
    Weaknesses:need to be lube often

Similar Products Used:fox is much better!
Bike Setup:specialized xc comp. all upgraded except shock and fork--soon to be upgaded to fox talas system---(forks and shock)
Bottom Line:this is an update from my last post, this shock broke two times since my last post! so if you get a bike with this shock on it---change it right away! or you will have some problems, and also it is definately not an upgrade product, do yourselves a good favor by not buying this junk! I am ashamed of specialized to allow such junk on their beautifull bikes! (CAUTION!!!)---DO NOT BUY IT!!!

Bike Setup:2006 specialized xc comp. fsr, full xtr drive train, mavic crossmax sl wheelset, criss king headset, thompson stem and seatpost, easton monkey bars, avid juicy 7 disc brakes.
Bottom Line:I think this shock is simular to the fox rc, and probably cheaper in cost--wich makes it a better bargain.

    Weaknesses:none so far
Bike Setup:Stock 2006 FSR XC Comp

    Date Reviewed: May 18, 2006
    Duration Product Used:3 months
    Purchased At:Evans
Strengths:Its very light at 250g and smooth feeling. The lockout works well too.
Weaknesses:I just had the external dust seal blow out. So its back to the shop for this unit. Ive only had the bike for about 15-20 hours of riding too.
    Similar Products Used:None
Bike Setup:Specialized FSR XC Comp 2006
Bottom Line:Not sure if this is a bad unit, an indication of poor brand quality or me not understanding the care needs of an air shock. I did have a Fox Vanilla which I occasionally brushd the dirt off but if the shock manual is anything to go by I should be cleaning it after every 5 hours. I might need a Lizard Skin.
