    Date Reviewed: November 23, 2007
    Favorite Trail:Alafia
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
    Purchased At:Given to me
Strengths:Comfy as heck, I'm getting another one.
    Weaknesses:I bent my rails.
    Similar Products Used:Nothing really comparable
Bike Setup:Kona Fire Mountain w/ 120 mm Manitou Black Platinum 120mm fork and a bunch of other upgrades.
Bottom Line:I really do honestly love this saddle, But sadly the rails bent. I should also mention that I'm only like 160 pounds. Still, this is a really old saddle, I got it from my neighbor about 3 years ago when I bought his bike from him. It was a retired Police bike, our guestimate is that it's from 97.

    5 stars for Value
and 4 stars because it did bend.

Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
    Purchased At:mad duck adventure sports
Strengths:just the right size and shape. perfect feel, not too hard or too soft. not too big or small. just the best MTB saddle i have ever used.
Weaknesses:mine split at the seem with the love channel. and the staples came undone.
    Similar Products Used:lots
Bike Setup:trek 4500 aa (hardtail) with lots of mods.
Bottom Line:i wish that it would have stayed together longer. i would like to buy another, because i loved this.... but do i want to spend a chunk of change on something that is going to just fall apart again?

Submitted by Zoltan a Cross Country Rider from Budapest, Hungary
    Date Reviewed: March 23, 2005
    Favorite Trail:Sorrento
    Duration Product Used:1 Year
Strengths:Perfect shape, love channel, flexibility, weight
    Weaknesses:will not last long
Similar Products Used:the original SST, Flite, S.Marco Aspide, Era K, Avocet X-Country
Bike Setup:Author Sector, SID Team w remote, XT, Sram X9, Mavic, Michelin, Ritchey, ATAC Carbon
Bottom Line:The first WTB saddle that is really suitable for racing, the oldschool sst was too wide at the middle. The WTB-like dropped nose is genial on the hard climbs. The love channel is a great idea that actually works. The flexibility of the seat makes the ride comfortable, but after a year or so (13 000 kms)the middle is too flexible, and if you are not sitting on the rear section (when you are climbing) it is not so comfortable any more.
My Flite is 3 years old, looks disgusting but works perfectly, like a new one.

    Favorite Trail:moab
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
    Price Paid: $70.00
    Purchased At:pbs
Strengths:light weight, side/corner durability, mid price range
Weaknesses:are the seams and exterior stitching really necessary, product design should rethink manufacturing to eliminate this characteristic
    Similar Products Used:turbo/bontrager/flite/slr/titanio
    Bike Setup:road and mtb
Bottom Line:flexible shell in middle. rubberized cutout pocket for pern. tissue relief really works. just enough padding under sit bones. a very good value to perf rating. many of today's styles scrimp on padding just to save weight and acheive a "racer" look, this saddle is quite contrary.

Bottom Line:After my first ride, I was amazed as to how nice this seat is. You really do get what you pay for!

It felt great. Very comfortable. I'd highly suggest purchasing one. This thing is designed very well with most riders in mind. I'm 5'11", 200lbs and this thing fits me like a glove. It must feel like a nice sofa for the lighter folks.

Submitted by HTail a from SF Bay area
    Date Reviewed: August 12, 2003
    Duration Product Used:3 months
Strengths:Nice shape, perfect for trail riding. Plenty of padding in the right places without feeling or looking over stuffed.
    Weaknesses:None so far.
    Similar Products Used:Specialized, Terry Fly
    Bike Setup:Truth/FoxF100X/MavicSL
Bottom Line:Great saddle! The shape and initial sit-on-the-bike with jeans felt a little edgy after using a more rounded profile Terry saddle. But once in biking shorts and on the trail, the seat rocks! The shape is very complimentary for the climbs, bumps and descents that us mtn bikers do. It feels very stable without being obtrusive between the legs. Nice amount of padding in the right places. I'm impressed & would recommend it.

Bottom Line:The seat is noce, I dont see it a a giant improvment over the stock seat. It creaks like crazy and I get a little numb. I paid $80.00 and I should have tried it our first. If I did, I would not have bought it.

    Weaknesses:A little pricey

Bottom Line:Buy this saddle. If you're tired of doing the "butt rub" on the nose of your seat as a massage, buy this saddle. One ride and you'll be calling yourself stupid for putting up with any discomfort you had from the saddle you just ditched

Similar Products Used:WTB Laser V Stealth and the WTB Rocket V Stealth
Bike Setup:20.5 Zaskar Team... with the usually chi chi parts.
Bottom Line:The saddle has it all, super comfort, light weight, durability and style. I have tried the other high end WTB saddles and this one IMHO is the best!

    Duration Product Used:3 months

    Purchased At:Ebay
Strengths:-Comfort level for such a lightweight saddle
    -Super lightweight
    -Excellent shape
    -Looks
    -Love channel
    -TI rails
    Weaknesses:none so far
    Similar Products Used:specialized body geometry
    Bike Setup:specialized epic w/ XT/XTR...etc.
Bottom Line:Going from that specialized torture device to the WTB saddle makes me want to cry with joy. The difference in comfort and the super lightweight when compared to the BG seat makes me laugh. The padding and the shape on the WTB is perfect. Exactly where needed and the love channel actually works because i haven't felt any numbness at all after hours of riding. If you're in the market for a very lightweight seat without comprimising comfort i highly recommend this seat for you will not be dissapointed. 5 flamin' chillis from me! By the way, search Ebay to get awesome prices on any MTB product, you'll be amazed...

Make sure you choose the Laser 5, not the Laser 5 stealth
unless your racing. The Laser 5 Stalth is 30 gramms lighter but incoporates a hard shell. The Lazer 5 uses a shoft shell system.

    Price Paid: $60.00
    Purchased At:pricepoint.com
Strengths:Super comfy, sexy looks, and light as hell! Sweet chrome vinyl strip in the "love channel" adds a little "bling bling" to my new ride.....The box it came in weighed more than the saddel almost!
Weaknesses:the texture of the top seat material is a little TOO "no-slip" and "grabby". It tugs on my shorts, but I can live with that.
Similar Products Used:SDG Bel Air, Fi'zik Nisene Ti,
    Bike Setup:Maverick American ML-7...need I say more?
Bottom Line:This is the Holy Grail of comfortable mountain bike seats. I'm gonna buy another to keep in the closet as a future spare. Get this seat, you WON'T be disappointed!

Bottom Line:real nice feel, I like a short saddle, the Fly was a little long for me. this one feels alot like the wtb98. (a good thing)seems easy to slide around if you want to, yet grips if you sit hard. Quiet and as comfortable as I've yet tried

    Favorite Trail:I'm not tellin'
    Duration Product Used:3 months
    Price Paid: $90.00
    Purchased At:Pricepoint.com
Strengths:Whew! Old seat was killing me (SDG). I've never been sold on the whole "love channel" technology but this seat is plush for something so lightweight. The fabric has a little grab too it so you don't slide off too easily. Just rode the 24 Hours of Moab on it and it did stellar. Titanium rails are a nice touch.
Weaknesses:Still haven't found a seat that the corners or nose don't get torn or badly worn when laying it down. The Kevlar works OK.
Similar Products Used:SDG Satellite (original seat), Bontrager seat with gel insert
Bike Setup:2001 GT I-Drive Team, stock components except Monkey Lite riser, Hardcore grips and the seat, of course.
Bottom Line:Great seat for a few extra bucks. Should go over well with the weight-conscious riders. Was considering a Selle Flite but changed my mind after talking to some friends who ride the Selle (chafing from the stitching, etc). Remember, you get what you pay for and if you plan on being on your bike alot, you're rear will thank you.

    Date Reviewed: August 7, 2002
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
    Price Paid: $90.00
    Purchased At:Performance
    Strengths:Very light, but comfy.
    Weaknesses:Shorter than my old WTB
Similar Products Used:WTB, Fizik Aliante (road), Specialized
Bike Setup:2000 Sugar 2 w/Bontr. Race Lite Bar, Mavic 517 w/XTR hub (rear), Easton CT2 Carbon Post, Panaracer Fire XC (rear), Michelin Comp Lite (front), otherwise stock
Bottom Line:If you like WTB saddles, this is awesome. Light at 195g, but fits even better than my old WTB. Only downside is it's a tad shorter front to rear.

Did a price match thing - Performance normally doesn't sell for $90.

An awesome seat, but you get what you pay for. Only avg "value", but awesome saddle!
