Strengths:I have punished this rim!! I am 225lbs and ride hard, I built the wheel myself and have had no trouble with it at all, granted I dont do more than about 4 or 5 foot drops and this is an xc rim. maybe you guys that are haveing trouble with them should have somebody else build them for you or learn to use a little finesse when you are rideing
Weaknesses:the only thing I dont like is the stickers on the side rub when I true it and the seam hits as well, I like to true to as near perfect as possible and use a dial indicator

Bottom Line:I think they are a pretty darn good rim for the money, as for those downhillers and big air dogs that are bending them, you might want to try something other than an xc rim !!

Bottom Line:I have been riding on these wheels for about two years and have never had any problems. I'm about 185lbs. so I'm not lite but not I'm not "Frank The Tank" either. I don't ride huge drops but that is not what these are for. If your looking for a cheap trail wheel that is some what lite buy it.
They do seem a little narrow. I run a 2.1 and it is fine but i'm a not sure about running anything much wider on them. And like anything else inspect it once in a while and if the spokes are lose get it taken care of.

Strengths:This rims is super strong despite the fact that it is a XC rim. I've used it on my Trek Fuel and abused it and now I changed to Stinky Primo and still using it. It to 5 foot drops to flat 4 times without any problem. Fell many times, knocked by car a few times and still the same. Was bent but can be bent back and no strength is lost.
Weaknesses:A bit too narrow for me to fit wider tires.

Strengths:Value for money, reasonably good construction.
    Weaknesses:Built by machines
    Bike Setup:Full suspension
Bottom Line:After the first few days the wheels wobbled a bit. I decided to check spoke tension. What a nightmare! Recordings all over the map. Re-tensioned the spokes and brought the Front Wheel to an average 93 kgf and the Rear Wheel to an average 89 kgf. Recommended average for these rims was advised by WTB at between 90-100 kgf. Strong wheels now - True - and seem to be holding after 2 months. Weigh in at 220 and all XC riding and drops no more than 12-18 inches max for an old timer... Three Chilis for a sub-standard job on spoke tension...

Bottom Line:Why does everyone say these are weak? The dual duty rating is way higher than this rims and the dualduty looses strength do to the fact that its structural architecture has to accommodate the use of rim brakes. These rims should be much strong and more durable than those. I think the problem here is we got a bunch of noobs riding their for their first time and cried to their momma when they found out they didn't know that these are XC rims and not free riding rims. The other thing that needs to be looked at is that some of these rims may have been machine made while others hand made and that plays an important difference in all rims! CYA NOOBS!! I DEMOed THESE BAD BOYS OFF OF A 10 FT DROP ON A HARDTAIL! I'M 210 LBS, APPARENTLY I KNOW HOW TO SOAK UP A LANDING WITH MY LEGS!!

Bottom Line:I have finally found time to ride after owning this bike for 5 years. Originally I would ride urban, now I am really enjoying the trails of North Florida. After about ten moderate rides, jumping anywhere from 1'-6' I have seriously bent my front rim meeting a standing 12" tree at about 15mph. Needless to say the rim looks like that mungaloid from the goonies. These rims servived quite a bit of abuse until then, and even after I hit the tree I was able to hobble out on the bike 3 miles. I weigh 180 lbs, and really enjoy doing drops etc on this bike and they held up.... I don't think they ever stayed true, but I am sure I have got my moneys worth out of them. OK if you are a beginner, but for any one who is going to get serious, spend a little money tight wad!

Weaknesses:WEAK...Fifth ride I took a pretty good header on local singletrack, nothing exceptionally extreme, whole bike is fine, front rim is bent into hilarious taco shape. This rim has been pronounced un-truable(?) by two bike shops. You would expect more that five rides from oem equipment on a $2000 bike.

    Weaknesses:slow, hubs
Bottom Line:Semi durable, and great for a weekend warrior to take out and abuse. Does not even compare to any performance rim/hub set that I have used. In my professional opinion the hubs are the weak link in this set up. The hubs are durable and can be abused; however they are not fast, and after 7 miles when your legs are burning, it is simply because of the hubs and not your tires.

    Strengths:It is a piece of ………….
Weaknesses:How could a company put such a piece of crap out on the market. I for sure would not want to put my name or associate my self with such a cheaply built wheel. One day of moderate single track and these bent to the shape of the giblets I was going over. Rim is completely dead if it could be trued; TEACH ME YOUR MAGIC.
Similar Products Used:Mavic 221 (solid), Ritchey
    Bike Setup:Novara Buzz King B
Bottom Line:I just got the bike today and a little stoked about a dual suspension bike. With 120mm up front and 190mm travel in the back. Right after leaving the store I got dropped off at flattop parking lot (not yet excited about climbing a whole bunch on a rear suspension bike). So it’s a moderate downhill and while taking it easy going down some Key single track, hit some roots and err, errrt , errt, it was tweaked and rubbing. Really bummed me out, I was just becoming the Buzz kings biggest fan. If you need a rim for a wheelchair, this would make a rally chair.

Strengths:Well if it has to have any I guess it would be the low price and weight, but not much else.
Weaknesses:Small profile, 24mm, hard to get wide tires on. Wasn't tuned properly from the factory. Front was WAY out, about 10-12mm, rear was slightly better, but dishout was symmetrical!

Bottom Line:These rims are very light for anything that ever sees dirt. I keep them as my general use wheelset like when I ride to work or to the store. I am on the heavy side (195) so I wouldn't even think about taking these on anything other than just an unpaved road. I was on a short steep run(down the side of a tall levee) when I split a sidewall and bent the rim on a squirel hole! Not even any rocks or roots just soft dirt and mud!
Light rims for even lighter riders. These rims should never have knobby tires on them, keep 'em out of the dirt.

Similar Products Used:Bontrager & mavic xc rims
Bike Setup:SC Chameleon tough xc build
Bottom Line:I handbuilt these rims onto a good set of hubs with 2.0mm spokes and brass nipples. As a mechanic and experienced wheel builder my wheels typically last years barring unforseen roots and crashes. Well, after about 10 rides I noticed the rear wheel doing the boogie so I stopped by the shop to true it up. Much to my dissapointment the rim had bent over in a section. Unrepairable. So I am riding on a bent rim and am a little pissed at the quality of these.

Note to readers: I weigh 200+lb. I ride hard. I jump my bike and do light downhill on it as well. Majority of my rides are enduro style with xc and dh mix. I typically squeeze in about 6-10hrs a week. Even at wholesale I wouldn't consider that I got my moneys worth from these rims.

Bottom line: Cheap rims, but you get what you pay for. Might be okay for full xc duty or a light guy. If you are a 200lb bruiser then stay clear of these even for your xc ride. If black rims with WTB logos on them do it for you then go for it.
