Favorite Trail:The 17 mile one home from work!
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
    Price Paid: $28.00
    Strengths:Worked well on dry terrain.
    Weaknesses:Difficult to get on wheel.
Impossible to get off wheel. Broke 4 tyre levers trying to get the tyre off. Had to cut it off in the end.
Similar Products Used:Panaracer Trailblazers (awsome mud tyres), Bontrager
Bike Setup:Klein Pulse Pro, SRAM chainset and brakes.
Bottom Line:The tyres are probably good. I got a flat after two days use and could not get them off the rim without cutting them off.

Could have been a one-off incident.

Submitted by Justin Lingard a Weekend Warrior from York, North Yorkshire, UK
    Date Reviewed: March 31, 2005
    Duration Product Used:3 months
    Price Paid: $20.00
    Purchased At:wiggle.co.uk
Strengths:Rolls well on the road - very fast. Good on-road/commuting tyre.
Weaknesses:An utter arse to fit and remove.
Similar Products Used:Schwalbe Marathon Cross (a much easier tyre to fit) and works as well too!
Bike Setup:1994 Kona Cindercone, Pace RC 30 forks, SRAM and LX gears
Bottom Line:I had these tyres installed at my local bike shop as when I tried to install them, the steel wire in the tyre sidewalls made them difficult to fit. (Obviously, this may just be a reflection of the tyres I bought, but I am unsure if there is a kevlar version of this tyre.) It took the bike shop a couple of goes to get them on, which included a nipped tube (oops). Once on, I was impressed with their performance. They ran well on roads and even loose tracks. For this reason they are an ideal tyre for commuting or for tracks/on-road riding in winter when it is too muddy. Unfortunately, the front tyre was severly damaged on the first outting. On arriving home, I discovered just how hard these tyres were to remove from my wheels. I ended up having to purchase a pair of Park Tools large steel tyre levers to crowbar them off. This caused some damage to the rim as well - and don't say its your my fault, 'cause without brute force they weren't coming off. I replaced the front tyre with a Schwalbe Marathon Cross which were a dream to fit in comparison and works as well, offering similar riding cahracteristics. The remaining rear tyre still runs well, but the side wall is slowly cracking after one UK winter, so that's coming off to be replaced with another Schwalbe. I am pleased I never had to remove these on the trail to replace a damaged tube when I was miles from home and it was raining and cold.

    Favorite Trail:Bull Mt.
    Duration Product Used:6 months
    Price Paid: $16.00
    Purchased At:nashbar
Strengths:lightweight, predictable during transition into turn, The rolling resistance is low and mud clears easily.

Weaknesses:Sidewall isn't the strongest. Overinflation, i.e. more than 60 psi might produce SW failure
Similar Products Used:Mich, wildgrp comp s kev, Pan. Dart and smoke
    Bike Setup:Trek y-22
Bottom Line:Good overall multi terrain tire for you if lively is a plus. Reaches its adhesion limit in a linear manner.Very light footprint on the trail which should be important to everybody.

    Favorite Trail:Ant Hills
    Duration Product Used:3 months
    Price Paid: $13.00
    Purchased At:Nashbar
Strengths:European rubber compound sticks to roots much better than Japanese. Price.
Weaknesses:One tire was almost impossible to get on the rim -- loose manufacturing tolerance of Kevlar bead?
Vredestein discontinued US distribution of their MTB tires.
Similar Products Used:Bontrager semi-slicks, fell apart in a few weeks.
Bike Setup:Kona stell hardtail, Bontrager Valiant rims on SRAM 9.0 hubs.
Bottom Line:These babies fly on hard pack and dry. The reduction in rolling resistance more than makes it feel like your whole rig is lighter. The workmanship is much better than the Bontrager tires I had before, which fell apart on the sidewalls.

    Favorite Trail:Steeles Creek
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
    Purchased At:Vredestein
Strengths:Surprisingly good traction on most everything(except wet leaves, but what does?), super fast rolling on hardpack, light weight, euro good looks, looks even better on my Yeti
    Weaknesses:none for a semi-slick...
Similar Products Used:other tyres, but no semi-slicks...
Bike Setup:00' Yeti ARC, XT, Cane Creek, XTR/BONTRG Wheels, KORE, Titec, Chris King, Thomspon, Manitou Super, Terry Fly, TIME
Bottom Line:I have never ridden semi-slicks before these tyres came into my hands, and I must say, I am quite impressed. I did not expect them to climb worth anything, yet they hooked up and held on in some stEEp stuff. On the downhill I had no problems with corners, even in soft loamy dirt, and when it came to hardpack, hold on...these babies like to go fast. Being a newbie to semi-slicks, I had no idea one could achieve these speeds on tyres that will still go in the dirt as well as knobies. I only wish I had them for my last race, maybe then I would have beat that guy in fourth!

Submitted by Derick a Cross-Country Rider from Toronto, Ontario
    Date Reviewed: April 16, 1999
    Duration Product Used:
    3 months
    Strengths:
    Awesome low-rolling resistance
    Phenomenal cornering ability
Surprising traction for such low-profile knobbies
    Weaknesses:
    Could be a bit lighter
    Not cheap
    Similar Products Used:
    Panaracer
    IRC
    Bike Setup:
    True North Reynolds 853 hardtail
XTR with a dash of XT
    Crossmax wheels
    Superfly
    Syncros seatpost, stem and bar
Bottom Line:This tire totally kicks butt. I've ridden this tire in all kinds of conditions and it handles well. The handling of the G-Ribs in loose rocks is not sketchy in the slightest. Unless it's ultra-muddy, this tire will connect well with all types of terrain. And its cornering ability is just awesome. This is truly a great tire. I am sold on Vredestein. I'd give 100 stars if I could.
