Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
    Price Paid: $78.00
    Purchased At:Rosario, Argentina
Strengths:Reliable, tough, easy clip-in/out, maintenance free, smooth ride.
    Weaknesses:Can´t find yet...

Bike Setup:Firt I used it in my old GT-Timberline'97
Today I have then set up in my GT-Avanlanche 1.0
Bottom Line:I´ve been using this pedals since I got them in 1998. I used it either in the mountains and town. I do the maitenance job by myself, my dealer sold me the Exus Lube Tube(the blue one) and the wrench to unscrew the LSL-Bearing Cartridge. So I still enjoy this simple but excellent piece of art and I spect to have them for a long time. My next pedals are going to be VP without doubt.

    Date Reviewed: March 7, 2001
    Favorite Trail:all of North Shore
    Duration Product Used:3 months
    Purchased At:stk on bike
Strengths:Nice looking pedal. Good solid bearing feel. Inexpensive. OK for casual rider as release is acceptable.
Weaknesses:Difficult entry no matter the tension, makes it unacceptable for rough trail at speed re-entry. Exit acceptable at lower tensions.
    Similar Products Used:Shimano 747
Bike Setup:Marin Attack Trail, Fox Vanilla RC, Manitou X-Vert Super
Bottom Line:I patiently tried and tinkered, trying to break them in to no avail. Luckily hadn't sold the old bike yet so I switched across with my old 747's and it felt like putting on that old pair of jeans.

Submitted by Peter Ask a Cross Country Rider from Sweden
    Date Reviewed: September 19, 2000
    Favorite Trail:Skåneleden, Sweden
    Duration Product Used:1 Year
    Strengths:Light, cheap
Weaknesses:Difficult to clip in, you can get stuck
    Similar Products Used:VP 102, Shimano 535
Bike Setup:Marin Indian Fire Trail, RS SID XC, XT components
Bottom Line:These pedals came stock on my bike last year. I have tried them for one year now, but I still don't like them. Compared to my old 535:s they are much more difficult to enter. It is also possible to enter "the wrong way", and then your foot gets stuck. Not so good. Now I have changed back to my old (almost worn out) 535:s. Much better!

    Favorite Trail:Skiddaw DH
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
    Purchased At:came with new bike
    Strengths:light, clippy..
    Weaknesses:almost killed me.
    Similar Products Used:vp103, vp646 (i think) and shimano m535
    Bike Setup:Marin Mount Vision 2000
Bottom Line:I wouldn't have chosen these, but they came stock on the bike. They are pretty inconsistent.. had a right time trying to get both sided equal in tension.
While out riding in cannock, one of the tension bolts came out unknowingly to me. i came to a point where i really needed that foot out to get round a corner and the bloody thing got stuck... I had to take my shoe off and use one of the other bolts to loosen the grip.

I will definately swap them to my old shimano LX spds.

Bottom Line:The pedals worked wery good for about a month.
Later, the pedal crashed in a stone, and one of the pieces of the pedal flipped out. A screwdriver and the problem was resolved, for a while. About two rides later, the same thing happend again. And now on the right pedal to! Tomorrow i replace ém with 515.

Submitted by Alf Braseth a Racer from Norway
    Date Reviewed: July 7, 2000
    Duration Product Used:3 months
Strengths:Lite, works good so far, easy to clip out
Weaknesses:Bit messy to clip into, not 100 % consistent
    Similar Products Used:Bontrager Re-1, Shimano 515
    Bike Setup:Klein Attitude Comp
Bottom Line:The pedals have worked OK so far (what more is there to ask for, it's only pedals). It runs smoother than my old Bontrager RE-1, but they are harder to clip into. The Shimano 515 felt more consistent but thy where harder to clip out of, also the Shimano's bearings broke very fast.

I ride approx. three times a week, two hard training workouts and one long relaxed ride. Also competing several times during the season. I'm only 160 lbs, but if they can take all this miles during one season, they should be good enough for the most you guys.

    5 chilis for good value
4 on overall rating, could be easier to clip into

I will submit a new review at the end of the season
