Favorite Trail:thetford beast of the east
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Price Paid: $45.00
Purchased At:stif
Strengths:strong. i've been using these on a tandem that had destroyed two mavic 521 rims at the back. the deep v's have remained straight and round.
Weaknesses:narrow.
deep - only a problem if you can't find long valved tubes, or your lbs can't get you a campagnolo valve extender.
Similar Products Used:black diamond.
Bike Setup:turner burner tandem, boxxer forks, hope c2 brakes w. 185mm disks, 24 speed xtr, fox 4r rear shock at 275psi! you gotta use dh stuff on an xc tandem if you want to race it.
Bottom Line:well worth the money, i just wish they still had a uk importer.

don't confude them with the less deep models.

Favorite Trail:Van Cortland Park
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $25.00
Purchased At:Nashbar
Strengths:Looks beefy.
Weaknesses:Isn't beefy. Heavy! Hard to inflate tube. Must have long valve tubes that LBS dosen't carry in 2.1 width. Dents easily! Cracks on welds in middle of race!
Bike Setup:Scwinn, Thompson, XT, Avid, Profile riser bar, Ritchey pedals,
Bottom Line:I thought that the extra width and depth of this rim would equate to extra strength. All it adds is extra weight! These are hard to find appropriate tubes for so I got an addapter. The problem is the addapter dosen't allow a tire guage to work so I had to guess air pressure.
The rim dents very easily on the side walls! And it cracked on the weld ruining a perfectly good race day.
Bottom line... get this rim if you are looking to add extra weight to your bike with little or no added performance.

Strengths:Got the Velocity K525 rims with XTR hubs on my 99 custom Zaskar. V.Light and supa-strong, have withstood a fair amount of abuse and have remained straight and true. Impressively light and strong offering excellent value for money compared to other rims.
Weaknesses:None
Similar Products Used:Mavic, Weinmann
Bike Setup:99 Zaskar Frame, Full XTR, everything except LX front mech. Syncros seatpin and stem, Litespeed Ti bars, custom built RockShox (mix of best of SID and Judy SL).
