Date Reviewed: April 20, 2009
Favorite Trail:Markham Park
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $60.00
Purchased At:ebay
Strengths:very strong, takes a beating
Weaknesses:heavy, three piece crank instead of a two piece
Similar Products Used:bontrager sport
Bike Setup:custom gary fisher genesis
Bottom Line:I have beaten this crank making 5' jumps onto concrete and these cranks are still running great. The Howitzer BB is insanely strong. great buy.

Submitted by Brett Mauthe a from Red Deer, Alberta, Canada
Date Reviewed: June 4, 2007
Duration Product Used:2 Years
Weaknesses:I was at c.o.p. and I did a shore series and lost balance so i bailed my bike. Then i get up and check it out and start riding it and the right crank arm is bent in and the pedal insert is almost coming out. The crank arm doesn't ride anywhere near true. I wouldn't recommend this crank set if your going to try anything that has the chance of failure
Bottom Line:Horrible.. weak.. the pedal insert is weak.

Submitted by Clyde a Cross Country Rider from Cagayan de Oro city , Philippines
Date Reviewed: December 1, 2005
Duration Product Used:3 months
Strengths:The shifting/changing of gears for cranks is the fastest tried vs. XT or similar products
Weaknesses:The cup on the Inner side of the bottom bracket sucks they create a play on the crank coz the cup is somewhat worn as u can see for yourself the inner side of the cup gave way..Truvativ Bad Design
Similar Products Used:Shimano XT 03
Bike Setup:XT 2004 with Bomber 2004 Avid disc egg beater --purely Musso Hardtail
Bottom Line:The CUP on the Bottom Bracket Sucks !!!

Submitted by Davo a from australia
Date Reviewed: July 9, 2005
Duration Product Used:6 months
Strengths:none
Weaknesses:the treading on the inside of the crank which the little silver thingy screws into always strips and the pedal falls out. you cant buy the little silver thingy as a replacement so u need a whole new crankset
Similar Products Used:none
Bike Setup:stp2, funn stem, other stuff
Bottom Line:ive had this crank set for 6 months now and the otherday my friends threading on the left crank arm broke and his pedal fell out and this happened to me today and also this other kid had the same problem and the thing is we all had stp's and the same crappy truvativ cranks. dont buy these cranks because they will break from just riding on the road, get some saint ones or something other than truvativ's.

Submitted by Riley Williams a Downhiller from Melbourne, Australia
Date Reviewed: November 7, 2004
Favorite Trail:that one with dirt...
Duration Product Used:3 months
Purchased At:Ivanhoe Cycles (LBS)
Strengths:flex resistance, look, brand, doesnt creak, quality
Weaknesses:still looking
Similar Products Used:heaps of no-name 3 pieces
Bike Setup:Giant AC 3 2005, Maxxis Hookworm 2.5"
Bottom Line:these cranks r tha bomb, and probably r bomb-proof. They resist all (as far as a human can tell) lateral flex and considering their performance, u can forgive tha weight. I would seriously reccomend these 2 anyone doing freeride, xc, downhill or UA coz they last and give confidence
