Submitted by fisher_rider05 a Cross Country Rider from Welaka, Florida, USA
Date Reviewed: August 17, 2008
Favorite Trail:Santos
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $70.00
Purchased At:ebay
Strengths:incredibly strong, smooth, stylish
Weaknesses:heavy
Similar Products Used:bontrager sport w/ raceface bash guard, stock square taper cranks
Bike Setup:custom gary fisher hardtail w/ sram x-7 drivetrain and downhill components
Bottom Line:This is the best crank system that I have ridden. The howitzer bottom bracket is much better than the shimano xt square taper. This crank can take abuse. It is also less expensive than other exterior bottom bracket systems.

Submitted by Clonker rider a Weekend Warrior from Cloncurry. Australia
Date Reviewed: June 18, 2008
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Strengths:The product is cheap, and is of reasonable quality. It has taken a couple of heavy hits and has come out fine.
Weaknesses:Bash gard has fractured and needed replacing. Replaced it with an E-Thirteen gaurd that not as hard and fragile.
Similar Products Used:Shimano cranks stes
Bike Setup:Giant Trance
Bottom Line:It is a good product for what you pay, but isn't the best in the world. I would not have any concerns about any of the more expensive truvative products if this crank set is any thing to go by.

Submitted by Joshua Goertz a Weekend Warrior from Manhattan, KS
Date Reviewed: January 29, 2008
Favorite Trail:the river trails
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $70.00
Purchased At:Price Point
Strengths:Stiff, bashguard works, replaceable sprockets
Weaknesses:howitzer connection
Similar Products Used:Trek 3 speed
Bike Setup:Trek 3700 with Truvativ cranks, 2.3 Hutchinson Barricudas, and Primo platform pedals.
Bottom Line:I bought this so I could clear logs and curbs when out riding around, and for that it worked, but I was simply commuting to school when the left crank gave away under my foot, it stripped the bolt that holds on the crank arm, and tore all the splines out of the crank itself. I don't know if I just got a defect part or not, but at this point in time I'm still trying to contact Truvativ.
