Submitted by igottademo9 a Downhiller from Spokane,WA, USA
Date Reviewed: November 19, 2008
Favorite Trail:Jackass
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $210.00
Purchased At:Wheel Sport East
Strengths:Great crank overall. REally light for the strength. I just bought the 09' in snow white. I have two sets of these cranks but the dh version. I have had no problems with either set.
Weaknesses:None
Similar Products Used:Holzfeller OCT DH
Bike Setup:Santacruz V10, fox forty, DT Swiss Sram drivetrainEaston bars and SDG seat post and saddle
Bottom Line:If i could recommend any crank for racing or just riding downhill these would be them. However if you dont race or ride consistently i would look towards the less expensive standard 1.1 and not the oct.

Date Reviewed: March 29, 2007
Favorite Trail:my own
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $260.00
Purchased At:top secret
Strengths:Light, Stiff, Bombproof, Howitzer Interface (rocks)
Weaknesses:None
Similar Products Used:Evolve DH, Hussefelts, XT
Bike Setup:7point66rc2x
Bottom Line:Well after bending the $hit out of an Evolve DH (outward) I had to step up in strength. I didn't, however, want to gain weight. The Diabolus was out of the question after experiencing RF CS and the fact that the interface sucks big-time. I'm not wild on the pinch-bolt on Saints and I just didn't see much else that appealed to me. Everyone raves about the OCT being crazy light but apparently they've just read too much marketing hype and not actually looked at the numbers. They are pretty light but they're not out-of this world. They have already suvived a nice concrete case and a full speed pedal-clip on a tree (how I bent the RF). They are also extremely stiff. It's kinda wierd but my bike immediately felt like it got moving quicker when you got on the pedals. That was also another person's first comment. It's definitely noticeable. I also love the Howitzer set-up. I think it gives you lots of options and all my bikes will be rocking it from now on. BOTTOM LINE: I DON'T THINK THERE'S A BETTER CRANK IN THIS CATEGORY MADE.
