Bottom Line:i can't say enough good things about this bb. it lasted just over 3 years on my bike, and I rode a ton of DH (15k+ vertical feet each weekend) this summer and part of last. it only just gave out, and at that, it still runs - just not very smooth. no complaints. lots of bad comments about this bb, but not many out there have a score of more than 3.5 chilis...

    Weaknesses:everything
Similar Products Used:any suggestions? i need a good dh bb
Bike Setup:bighit, dorado, mag 30, mtx, raceface cranks, diablous bar
    Bottom Line:where do i start?

when i got my bike it came stock with a crappy truvativ bb and it was creaking within 2 weeks. i greased it up and it lasted another 6 months until i noticed some wobble in it. i pulled it out and there was 1/8 inch wobble to it. NO JOKE!!.

i took it to my bike shop and they upgraded me to the gigapipe team dh after they talked to the warantee dept.(i couldnt get an awnser out of them)anywho... i threw it and if you torque it to their specs it wont spin, so i backed it off a lil bit.

all was fine for a whole 2 WEEKS!! until i got some extremly loud creaking from it. i pulled it out and the spindle was bent because the bearings were grinding on only the one side. i took it into the shop and they told me to literally abuse it until it had some wobble so i could another one

How long does the cycle go on for???

Bottom line: you will have better luck with even shimano and raceface

did i mention how much hussefelt cranks suck too, i ride a dually and i ripped the fricken inserts out!!! just thought id let you know

ZERO chillies for this peice of crap(if i could)

    Similar Products Used:Lots of Shimano.
Bike Setup:Bullit, z150, Hayes, Raceface, etc.
Bottom Line:Works, but not very long. My local shops said that they always have bearing problems with Truvativ, and it seems as though I am no exception.

It did take some good abuse, but I epected it to last longer.

Bike Setup:giant stp1, fox fork, mavic DH wheels, holzfeller cranks, hayes hfx9, easton vice, fsa bar, bling bling tires
Bottom Line:this is a sweet b/b and i will never ride anything else. it is a pain to drain it if you get water in the frame shell. but it makes up for it in strenght and stifness, i have had the b/b for a long time and only had to drain it once. it is really worth the money and it is best used w/ a holzfeller DH crank set.

Strengths:sram's warranty department rocks, stiff till it takes a beating
Weaknesses:weak, bearings stiffing up offten, but they come loose with a couple of spins
    Similar Products Used:race face
    Bike Setup:hard tail: dh parts
Bottom Line:I'm on my second one in less than 6 months. Sram warrentied my first one which broke on the trail with miles to go. NOw my replacement has play in it which is very noticeable when peddalling. I'm not impressed with this thing. DOn't believe the "go big" advertisment, that's crap. If this thing can't stand up to my riding it's not strong enough to be a DH bb. Most abuse i've put this thing through is a couple of 5 foot drops to flat. I am on a hard tail, but i don't consider that "going Big." I don't know what hard core sponsored riders are using, but if they're running this thing they must have a stock pile, and change out every week or so. I'm going to stick with this model as long as sram continuies to warranty it. I will never pay for another one. In defence of this product, i've yet to find a bb that lasts.

Strengths:STIFF Doesn't flex at all. 4 bearings provide all needed support.
Weaknesses:Didn't come with the bike. Have to buy special tool to install.
    Similar Products Used:Square taper.
Bike Setup:Hussefelt Cranks mated to Gigapipe Team DH BB - all that's relevant
Bottom Line:I'm not a small guy 6'4" 260 lbs and no where near a smooth rider so I needed a solid Bottom Bracket and Crank combo. My old set up flexed like it was made of rubber so i replaced it with the GigaPipe Team DH / Hussefelt combo and haven't looked back. Spins smooth as glass - has taken a few hits / bad landings with no problems.

Bottom Line:Well I'm 230lbs and bought this based upon all the reviews that said it was the best DH bb. I've killed the drive side bearings in less than 2 months and the whole thing has started to separate - lock rings migrating down the spindle.
I'm going to send it back and see if it was faulty but I'm not hopeful.

I've bought a Race Face Signature DH - at least you can replace the bearings on these

Bottom Line:mine fits in a 100mm BB shell (extra wide). i had no complaints until my last ride of the summer. there was some sort of bearing problem (the spindle seized up). the truvativ guys were very cool about replacing it with a new one right away, no questions asked. i put the new one in, but haven't really ridden it hard yet (winter time blues). my bike also came stock with truvativ holzfeller cranks. i've been very pleased with the performance of the truvativ products themselves and their warranty department. i plan on sticking with them.

Bottom Line:i ride xc, but keep blowing up BB's, i dont know why i'll go thru three a year. it sux so i tried this and so far it works pretty good,i mean i dont understand why bb's are so difficult to produce, if you look at the reviews of most of them on this web site you can see a trend of good companies producing what can easily be construed as crap.My last bb was an fsa and it lasted less than three monthes, needless to say i dont have a very high opinion of fsa bb's I havent had much luck with raceface either, two of those in less than a year...not the DH which i hear is pretty good actually. I would like to see Chris Kings answer to the crap bb problem but a small part of me is afraid they will fail too.
