from jefferson, nj, usa Date Reviewed: September 3, 2006 | | Duration Product Used: | Less than 1 month | | Strengths: | lots of comfy gel padding, sufficient terrycloth. | | Weaknesses: | awkward placement of stitching/knot | | Similar Products Used: | axo, fox, salsa | | Bike Setup: | rigid ss 29er | | Bottom Line: | during casual riding, these gloves caused a blister to rise on my right palm near my thumb. during a 24 hour race they cause it on both hands. on the first lap the blisters formed, on the second lap they popped, on the third lap they reformed, fourth lap popped, etc. i called it quits after eight laps. i had a death grip on the bars to try and keep my hands from moving/making the blisters worse. arm fatigue got me. it's the panel that comes to a point at the base of the thumb. the stitching is rough on the inside and is tied in an exposed knot right at the point. these are recreational gloves mind you, but still... | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$30.00 | | Purchased At: | lbs | | Strengths: | Thick gel padding | | Weaknesses: | None yet, but I can see having problem with the velcro later. Hopefully I'm just putting too much worry into this. | | Similar Products Used: | Bell Cheapo x-Mart | | Bike Setup: | Trek 3700 | | Bottom Line: | Haven't crashed with them yet, but I feel comfortable knowing they're there for when I do. I've survived with thinner gloves so these ought to suffice. Easy to get on and off, and there isn't any stitches loose after several rides. Glove prices are crazy, so the value is 3. As far as fit and feel... I like them! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$25.00 | | Purchased At: | LBS | | Strengths: | Gel padding is nice | | Weaknesses: | none yet | | Similar Products Used: | many various pairs of gloves | | Bike Setup: | GF Hoo Koo E Koo, stock. | | Bottom Line: | I've found that the gel padding is a nice feature, especially after riding for several hours. These gloves wash and dry real easily, haven't had any problems with loose stitching.
Am hoping they last longer then my old pair, which only lasted 1 year before falling apart. A little pricier then regular gloves because of the gel, because of that it gets only 4 flaming chilis for value. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$19.00 | | Purchased At: | local bike shop | | Strengths: | padding seems to work ok | | Weaknesses: | poor stitching | | Bike Setup: | two wheels, frame, fork, etc. | | Bottom Line: | bought these gloves only because they were on sale... i too think most cycling gloves are way over-priced. anyways, bought first pair and had to return them the next day because i noticed the stitching on the wrist band was loose/pulled out. Shop happy to give me a second pair but after first use stitching on index finger comes loose... after second ride stitching on middle finger comes loose. On third ride... you begin to see a pattern here? So my advice would be if you are interested in buying these gloves (because they do keep the fingers protected and are comfortable - i'll give trek that) be sure to also purchase a small sewing kit to do the neccesary maintenance. after about 10 rides with these gloves (and we're talking normal use... no burning and crashing every 2 miles) I've got the palm, thumb and four fingers stitched up. Will see how long they hold out with regular repair. HEY TREK - INCLUDE A SEWING KIT. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Toronto, ON Date Reviewed: August 1, 1998 | | Bottom Line: | Bought the Trek Gel Diffuser gloves on sale, but I still think biking gloves are way too expensive. But I guess I needed them, was sick of getting my hands scratched up on single-track! hehe These gloves feel really good, the gel padding on the palm keeps the bumping and jarring your hands take on the handlebar to a minimum. Feel spongy and comfy, while allowing the biker to keep a good solid grip on the handlebars without any slippage. I noticed wearing on the synthetic leather palms only after the first few rides, the synthetic leather seems to be shedding?! Hard to explain in words, but it is like eraser bits when you use an eraser to erase pencil writing. Only had these gloves for a little while now, but noticed this, still have to see how well they will hold up after a long time. BUT BIKING GLOVES ARE STILL TOO EXPENSIVE! :) | Overall Rating: |
