from UK Date Reviewed: October 1, 2003 | | Duration Product Used: | 2 Years | | Strengths: | Frame-it is lightweight, stiff and responsive and helps you climb and race fast. | | Weaknesses: | Icon bars, seatclamp. | | Similar Products Used: | GT Xaskar | | Bike Setup: | stock-will be upgrading components soon, but originals are still going strong. | | Bottom Line: | This is a bike aimed primarily at XC and it does that well. It is very fast and great for climbs. It is not a downhill bike although it has inspired confidence in me for all types of riding. The bikes strength is its frame , which is the best frame i've ever had. Great bike , but if you were to upgrade componentry you would have a top of the range race bike. Hard to beat. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$1600.00 | | Purchased At: | Ebay | | Strengths: | Climbs like a mountain goat on speed. Super frame. Overall quality. | | Weaknesses: | Straight icon bars and no quick release on seat. Thats it, no real weaknesses. | | Similar Products Used: | Muddy fox, other treks, Scott, Kona. This is faster than them all. | | Bike Setup: | Original frame, otherwise upgraded with all xt, club roast risers, hope quick release,Duke Racing Forks. | | Bottom Line: | This is a great bike. The frame makes it a classic worth keeping and upgrading. You can race and win XC, but this bike can also handle anything you chuck at it. I've bounced down mountain sides in the lake district and Scotland that people were climbing down. As long as you adjust your seat this bike just gives you so much control and confidence. It keeps you in front and leaves your fellow bikers wishing they could ride like you!...but it's the bike thats done it. Buy one ! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$450.00 | | Purchased At: | Employee Deal through Trek | | Strengths: | Great deal for the money, working at a shop I can get pretty much any bike I want. I wanted a complete bike that was set up, right out of the box. This bike was it. Climbs well and handles great. Tight singletrack is what we have here and this bike LOVES it. I am not ashamed to show up on shop rides alongside the Moots, Litespeeds and Bontragers... | | Weaknesses: | None that I can find | | Similar Products Used: | Almost every Fisher, Trek, Schwinn and GT that we carry at the shop where I work | | Bike Setup: | Stock except for some bar ends | | Bottom Line: | Great bike for the price and well set up from the get go. If you can find one get one, as they are no longer made. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$1280.00 | | Strengths: | Nice colour, good tone to the bell, basket holds quite a bit of shopping. | | Weaknesses: | Lack of tassles on the end of the handle bars | | Similar Products Used: | F500, Raleigh Grifter and Chopper, this bike I made from bits my dad feltched from the local tip. | | Bike Setup: | Replaced the standard handle bars with these massive cow horns. Put some playing cards in the spokes, held to the frame with clothes pegs to make it sound like a motorbike. | | Bottom Line: | This bike is the mutts nutts. I can not fault it. My mate has an F500 and I believe the Trek 7000 has the edge.(I have a preference for the flick shifters as opposed to the twist grip). | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

Brakes that come with the bike are a kinda crappy, thats why I got new ones | | Similar Products Used: | none | | Bike Setup: | Full xt group, 98 judy sl, BRAND NEW spin rims | | Bottom Line: | This is a kick ass bike, for the money I think that it is one of the best bikes u can buy | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from London England Date Reviewed: February 10, 2000 | | Favorite Trail: | Cheddar england | | Duration Product Used: | 1 Year | | Strengths: | Great frame, wheels | | Weaknesses: | Chainsucking transmission | | Similar Products Used: | Lots over the years (including road bikes!!) | | Bike Setup: | Pretty much as standard, Flite saddle, middleburn rings DMR pedals. | | Bottom Line: | Really great stiff & light frame. The wheels seem good too, light and strong and pretty capable of keeping the english mud out of the bearings. Transmission not so great, I'm dubious about the Icon chainset and rings as I've suffered really bad chainsuck. All in all a really good ride though. The money is spent in the right places, frame and wheels. The other bits are sensibly chosen, a good all-round package. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from New Jersey Date Reviewed: October 26, 1998 | | Bottom Line: | Just put the first 50 miles on my new 1999 Trek 7000. It has been seriously upgraded from 1998, and costs about the same (I paid $860). I'm a 37 year old steer at 255lbs. and wore out a bunch of 21 year old kids. This bike can really climb. The Judy XC's worked great, even at my weight. Five Flaming Chili's! | Overall Rating: |
