Favorite Trail:Maybury State Park
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $5200.00
Purchased At:Local Bike Shop
Strengths:For a DH, the frame is light! I got it as an investment being there was a VERY limited (100) of them made, but decided to see how it handled as a MTB in some races and it was a TANK! It's nearly bulletproof, and you will have a new found confidence in speed through the trees.
Weaknesses:Didn't like the DH fork so switched out to something more efficient in dealing with the uphill.
Similar Products Used:Trek Session & Fuel's
Bike Setup:Pro-Lite wheels, Avid Mech. Brakes, Dart RockShox Fork
Bottom Line:This is one of Trek's best made DH/Mtb bikes out there, it's too bad how few of them there are. But then again, I'm fortunate enough to have snagged one. :]

Favorite Trail:a river runs through it
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Price Paid: $4000.00
Purchased At:cyclepath
Strengths:long wheelbase, stable at high speeds, bulletproof welds solid bike, stock spec parts are great boxxer, hayes front and rear 8 inch rotors get alot of head turns on the hill) mrp is solid very nice to race with I found I could rail corners and brake alot later than other riders, this bike gives you confidence,
Weaknesses:lots of wheel bob, 4 bar linkage is more efficient, lose the icon parts when they brake (you don't feel guilty about cutting the icon seatpost)
not a feeride bike too heavy to hike with
these days put on a longer travel shock 6 inches gets too small after a while I found I bottomed it out I weigh 180
NO REPLACEABLE DERAILLER HANGER!!!!!! (then again my m1 sucks because of this too)
Similar Products Used:intense m1 2002 with 5th element shock, my new frame, way more efficient linkage. rocky mountain rm9 (rear end of trek is way way way stiffer than this)
Bike Setup:hayes stock 8"front rear shock, mavic deemax, azonic shorty stem, selle italia saddle, xtr-mrp setup, easton moneylite bars, stock icon seatpost, intense 2.7 front intense 2.3 rear, yeti lock clamp grips
Bottom Line:I rode this bike on the north shore, whistler most of the time this bike is alot tougher than the average bike I knew guys that rode rm9's, brodies and other bike and in the long haul my bike was the only one that held up for three summers on the west coast, the only time I lost time was when I smashed my derailler into a rock, the frame and boxxer setup are totally reliable, the frame is still going strong not many scratches either (trust me you almost cry when you scratch the sexy pearlcoat paintjob)
I had toursts coming up to me saying "I've never in my life seen a bike like yours" so needless to say gets you pretty stoked when you own it.

Bottom Line:this bike will rock anything you want it to. Infinate adjustibility, needs speed. its like riding a tank through the woods, tough going up but coming down woo boy, I've got it rigged as a freeride bike, and its deisel, 4ft drops to flat like butter, endless suspension.

Favorite Trail:Trails? Aren't those where you're SUPPOSED to ride? HA!
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $2200.00
Purchased At:Chain Reaction Mountain Bikes
Strengths:Thick, indestructable frame. Suspension linkage adjustable 6 ways so you dont have to be a mechanic to figure out. XTR components have a great reputation. MRP chainguide un-bustable. Nimble in the turns and switchbacks.
Weaknesses:8 inches of rear travel, great! - But with a 6 inch Boxxer?!? They should've put a longer travel fork on it... but the Boxxer is a great solid fork. Also, my deruailler derails sometimes - but i'm working on it. ONE MORE THING - 2.0 inch wide tires?? Gone in five minutes.
Similar Products Used:Oh geez - lets see - Santa Cruz Bullit and Super 8, Intense Uzzi SLX, Kona Stab Primo, Ellsworth Dare, Schwinn Straight 8
Bike Setup:COMPLETELY STOCK!! XTR components, MRP chainguide, hayes 8 inch disks, fox RX, Boxxer pro. Oh, no, not stock - CUT THE SEATPOST, 26 x 2.6 WTB's.
Bottom Line:Solid, fast, nimble DH. One of the downhilling industries little known and overlooked secrets. fun to ride. flies like a bird, lands like a cadillac. a little difficulty peddling, but what do you expect. Great DH bike, i keep it in my room.

Strengths:seriously beefy no flex or play at all
Weaknesses:none really well the paint isn't the most durable (who cares)
Similar Products Used:2k m-1 (better bike if you can afford it)
Bike Setup:9.0sl shifters/derailer hayes 8" discs xtr crank & bb
42 tooth ring boxxer and a monster T
Bottom Line:this is a beast bike it can roll over just about anything and is really stable at high speed. unless you're already riding a pro level dh bike this will make you ride better. one thing I changed to really help out the handling is I swapped the vanilla Rx to an RC I stole off my kona that really made the bike ride better however you wont be disapointed in its stock form. I bought mine used off this sight for a good price so i duno what the guy with 10g was thinking

Strengths:this bike is raging to go, just point and shoot and the bike will do the rest, if your looking for speed and performance then this could be your bike. i have mine set with a Monster T and this bike EATS everything. With the 6.75inch super plush rear-end you can ride over small cars or 15 foot drops, this bike will out perform your expectations.
Weaknesses:the basterds at trek could have made the top tube a little lower, but you only hit it once!!!

Strengths:
Everything, the only complaints are some of the OEM parts.
Weaknesses:
Rock Shox Boxxer
Similar Products Used:
z1
Bike Setup:
Stock with 2.6tires
Bottom Line:I ride it on the trail, a little hard to go uphill at over forty pounds, but is all worth on the downhill. It also does pretty good in DH races. PS. I got for it $2275 and change on a close out deal, the other guy should have waited.

K2
Duration Product Used:
3 months
Strengths:
Weight, plushness, strength, control
Weaknesses:
They could change the trek logo, thats about it( its so good thats all I can think of)
Similar Products Used:
Santa Cruz super 8
GT DH lobo
Bike Setup:
Full XTR ( derailers, hubs, etc) Raceface DH cranks, Hayes Hydro disks, Boxxer and a monster T which I switch
Bottom Line:This is a world cup downhill bike that u actually have a chance of winning on if your a half good rider. I always win my races with the boxxer setup and I cant complain about enything, its SUPER plush, Iam talking going off 6-7 foot drop offs and not bottoming out, the 8inches rear travel rocks, and the boxxer is, the best DH fork out right now. Bottom line, if you can get your hands on one of the 100 made then your lucky like me, the price is expensive, I payed just under 10g's new for this thing stock. Wish I could give it 10 flaming turds but 5 is max :)
