This bike made an acceptable leap to light freeride from its all-mountain original intent. It handles big drops, jumps and flat landings without any complaints. i want to upgrade to the new Marz Roco TST coil and 55RC3 for a little more reliability and confidence, but i've never had any real complaints with this bike aside from its XC spec from the factory.

From the wheels up the remedy is an awesome all around set up.the manitou suspension front/rear has saved me many times from being seriously mangled.with three way adjustment you can quickly and easily dial the suspension for all of your riding needs.the sram/shimano drivetrain is smooth and precise.(with proper maintanence.the bontrager components serve their reputation of quality and affordability.
Weaknesses:
The race lite wheels on the all mountain bike?the wheels are fine for lighter riding.i destroyed the rear wheel the firt day riding.

After cracking my Trek Liquid 20's top tube Trek gave me a new Remedy66 front triangle under warranty. This was compatible with Liquid's swing arm - so the Liquid-Remedy was born. One month later the Liquid right chain stay snapped, so they gave me the Remedy 66 back end too. Quite annoying at the time, but I guess getting a free new frame after 3 years of regular riding isn't too bad.
Plush rear suspension - loads of travel. Refined frame design over the Liquid it replaces - neater welds, better pivot design and beefed up where old frame broke. Climbs well considering travel and weight. Paint job looks the business. Trek Lifetime Warranty.
Weaknesses:
Swingarm pivot bearings are glued in with super strong loctite638 - not a fault in itself, but I have seen better designs! 4lbs heavier than my old Liquid frame. There are lighter bikes in this class. Paint job is not wearing too well.
A very capable all mountain bike. As at home on downhill course as it is on a cross country slog in the hills. I value this versatility.
I feel it is a little let down by it's weight. Although I do not build my bikes very light (I'm not small), my complete bike pushes 40lbs!
Time will tell if the Remedy suffers from the frame failure issues of it's sister, the Liquid.

the frame appears to be strong but i only weigh 120 lbs so i dont have to worry about frame cracking. i love the 36 talas and its functions. it has good balance
Weaknesses:
it should have larger tire clearance for burlier tires for technical freeride. the rear shock is garbage for a 3400 dollar all mountain bike. It is one sluggish bike.

When i got this bike i had had never heard of it i wasnt planing on getting a trek, i had my eyes set on a sc bullit but it was a gift so i had to take it. i basicaly picked it because of the talas and burley frame. When i bombed all the trails i was always disapointed from the sluggishness, i think its because i have tubes in the tubeless ready tires. i dont know about this bike, im afraid to launch it off over 5 foot drops even tho it looks like it can take a 15 foot drop, but if u want one buy it.

This is a strong, confidence inspiring bike. Once set up properly it tracks well and i find it an excellent technical uphill climber. Bike seems very well balanced. SRAM components seem a good match to the bike, and the fox 36 seems a great fork for it.
Weaknesses:
The bike is slow. There is no way around it. I find myself substantially slower than i did on my more trail oriented bike.
Rider position also seems to be a bit further forward than i am used to which has lead to a couple crashes (not getting back far enough on larger drops). However more likely a habit issue than a bike fault.
Stock headset is rubbish.
Other than that, the SRAM rear derailleur sticks out a lot. I have damaged it twice already (mainly from high impact crashes though, so i cant blame it too much).

Bottom line is this a great bike. If you get one at a good price, the value for money is fantastic, especially on the 07 models. I bought 2 earlier this year for both my wife and I as a bit of a gamble seeing there was no trial a trek program available on these bikes here in Aus. Wanted to get a "do it all" bike.
So far we couldn't be happier. These bikes are great in the rough, but are also quite good for distance riding (completed a 60km day ride on the weekend). As everyone here has said, they are a bit slow, and you really notice it the first few rides. However, for a bike which is capable of big drops, smoothing out rough terrain and capable of being an all day epic ride, the extra bit of time it takes is not really a problem.
They are great bikes, i would definitely recommend them.

the frame! It Snapped on me yesterday! This is the second Trek All-Mountain frame to break on me. We'll see how they handle it this time. I've stuck to Trek because of their frame lifetime warranty. Now that I've used it TWICE, I'm wondering if I should buy another brand that won't break in the first place. P.S. This bike is a SLOW climber

Ability to take big hits (4-5 feet) or less and keep going. The Manitou fork has saved my @ss countless times when I've landed front heavy or just going over rocks.
Weaknesses:
A damn creaking coming from what I thought was the crank but just realize it's the main pivot for the rear triangle. Its shot with a lot of play. Pretty much has been that way from the beginning.

Man this bike was hard to get used to. I could and still can't believe the learning curve. But now that I've broke through it's an amazing ride. It really is "All Mountain". No way around it, but when you hit the technical stuff you'll be pushing people out of your way. If you never want to do anything aggressive then don't get this bike.

Strengths:
Nice components. The bike is sure footed. You can go over or through just about anything. The rear suspension works well. Once you get the right air settings between preload and compression dampening you get the best of both worlds...long travel with little pedal bob. Lifetime warranty on the Wisconsin made frame. The also offer a multi-year extended warranty for very little money. I am an over 200lb. ex MXer. I beat my equipment.
Weaknesses:
Handles a little slow due to the geometry and big tires. You can go fast, but you have to be aggressive. Also make sure you size the bike right. They run big. At six foot the large was too big.

Bike Setup:
Stock with eggbeaters and a WTB saddle. The Trek Stores sell the bike with tubes installed even though the bike has tubeless tires and rims. Do yourself a huge favor and lose the tubes. It rolls much better without them. It felt like I shaved five pounds off when I took them out.
Bottom Line:
If you are looking for a light trail rocket, this may not be the bike for you. If you want a good all around ride with great components that will take all you can give it this bike deserves serious consideration. I was going to build a Turner 5spot. If I built it like the Remedy it would have cost double what I paid....and I would have only gotten a two year frame warranty.

bike is a love hate relationship right now. it won't go fast. the motor is not the problem, i am a semi-pro. i feel like i am way off the ground, and i am. i haven't been able to rip the tires off in a corner yet. need to find the edge. jumps to flat, and takes drop offs great, as long as it's not over head high. never loses traction due to travel and rubber. already broke 2 hangers, due to ammount of downed trees. spd pedals should not be used by anyone. they have nothing to do with the bike, but this is a warning to everyone. don't ride spd. get time pedals and save your life.

When i first pick the bike up i was surprised by how light the bike was. Approx 31 lbs for the 17.5 model. Out on the trail it pedels surprisingly well for a 6inch travel bike and inspires confidence when you reach technical sections. The manitou nixon super fork is well controlled and the spv shock at the rear gives a nice ride with minimal bob. gearing and wheels by bontrager and shimano are fantastic and the big earl 2.35 treads gives the rider confdidence.
Weaknesses:
None as yet, the only weakness what may be noticed is the lack of mud clearance at the rear on the swing arm but i dnot care, part of being a mountain biker is all about getting muddy on your bike.

Since i got this bike with almost £1000 off and on 0% finace, it has been a fantastic machine to ride. All the pther bikes i tested were not bad atall but this one gave me the beter deal and was the more hardcore bike of the lot i tested.(it was lighter and better speacked than the scott randsom). Coming from a 2005 gary fisher HKEK. It takes some getting used to to power the bike up the hills but theres nothing wrong with building up for fitness. I still keep with the xc riders round my local trails becuase on the way down you absolutly fly. Well done to Trek for the Remedy range.

This bike is stable at high speeds and inspires confidence in rocky, technical Terain. Climbs well for a six inch travel bike. The Remedy 66 has good parts for the price.
Stock except for replacing a bent chainring with a Shimano XT.
Bottom Line:
I have had this bike for about six months and like it more now than ever. It took a while to get used to the handling of the bike coming off of my hard tail, it is much slower steering, now that I am getting used to it I can ride things that would have been incredibly difficult on the hard tail or other full suspension bikes I have ridden. This bike has saved me from serious crashes on several occasions. The bike climbs surprisingly well. The sram components work very well, as do most of the Bontrager components.
The only thing I don't care for on the bike is the crank set. The race crank that is on the bike doesn't seem to shift as well as Shimano cranks do. I bent the middle chain ring on a crash and replaced it with a Shimano. The new chain ring shifts better than the old one ever did.
Overall I can recommend this bike for anyone who wants a good all around bike that is more capable than your average cross country rig.

The best handling bike I have riden, period. Trek have done an excellent job on this. Just spent the last 21/2 years riding a modified Cake, this is the next step up the ladder. Better all round bike than an Intense 6.6 and more ground clearance than a Commencal 6.1 and more roomy than a Fisher Fat Possum. All up weight is 32.2 lbs with a 19 1/2" frame. Manitou suspension on the stock bike limits the bikes potential, forks are to whimpy and the rear shock to harsh on the small stuff and blows through its travel on the big hits. Trek need to ditch Manitou, they are not cutting it. The pivot set up is spot on, don't need no pedal platform to stuff up the small bump action. If you like to ride EVERYTHING terrain wise, you would be hard pressed to find a more fun, inspiring and comfortable bike.
