Date Reviewed: May 31, 2002
Favorite Trail:Mohican Wilderness (few people, NO ATV's)
Duration Product Used:3 months
Purchased At:Rocky's Cyclery
Strengths:Very lightweight bike even with the disc brakes. The bike comes stock with an excellent component package, superb front shock and flashy cool looks. The frame geometry is extremely comfortable and efficient for me (6'2", this thing feels like a missile whether going up or down! Tons of one finger stopping power with the Hayes hydraulics, even at 185 pounds (will never go back to V breaks).
Weaknesses:mmmmmmmmm......let me think.........NONE!! I have seen others rag on the Jones AC tires, but go to the Bontrager web site and he tells you they are not good for mud. They seem to do very well everywhere else.
Similar Products Used:Trek 7000
Bike Setup:Cut about 2" off the stock bars, other than that, completely stock.
Bottom Line:This bike gets the big thumbs up!! It comes stock ready to race or hammer down that local trail. If you can float the cash, this is the bike to own. I am a bigger fairly aggressive rider, and I like things that don't break or leave me stranded in the forest. So far, this bike has been flawless. It is very predictable and handles anything I can throw at it. In a nutshell, I love the bike and I garuanty you will too.

Favorite Trail:NOW-PortHills South island NZ
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $2400.00
Purchased At:Cycle Werks
Strengths:Light Weight-reliability-
Quiet-super fast and responsive
Non creaky
Weaknesses:Seat Rails.
Similar Products Used:S works 2002, M4, Intense Tracer 2001.
Bike Setup:Bog standard except..Hayes brakes just Swapped out front disc for down hill rotor and it stops now!
Bottom Line:It took a while deciding on which bike. For the first time in my life with no major concern for $$s. Orange county is not short of bike choice, I needed a bike to emigrate with to NZ so it had to be reliable, I ride 3 times aweek the bike gets plenty of abuse, no worries here.
