Titus Moto-lite, which I loved, but had developed stress fractures in the upper (forward) shock mount tabs - noticed one week before a HUGE vacation.
Bike Setup:
King Hubs, Kenda Cortez, Louise discs, new-style XT cranks, XT rear cassette, SRAM triggers, Thompson stem and post, WTB Laser-V
Bottom Line:
Hammerhead Bikes _scrambled_ to get me a new frame within one week! Charles talked to Alan (at Titus) and they had a "blem" small Quasi frame that I got a _smokin'_ deal on. The "blem" is a joke...the anodization had a couple of drop-size flaws near the water bottle mounts. Puleeze! Who cares?!? I'LL TAKE IT! I can't even post the price because I feel guilty.
This bike works for me. We ride some pretty gNaRLeY buttruff here in the rocky TX Hill Country and the Quasi never says no. It's like a dirty girlfriend! She says, "Ride me hard! Put me away wet!" And I do. 4 times a week, minimum.
BTW -- I'm not really a "cross country" rider. There's a bit more of the "black diamond" freeriding going on here. The Quasimoto is perfect for that.

Bottom Line:
This is the 1 yr update - I've only changed a couple things on the bike since originally bought, all because of normal wear and tear: Saddle is now WTB Rocket V Stealth, chain now XTR with SRAM gold link, chainrings are now Blackspire Super Pro, coil on the rear shock change to RCS Ti 850# spring.
I have not experienced a better running, quieter drivetrain, than the Blackspire / XTR chain / XT cassette / Boeshield lube combo - awesome running & shifting.
However, that's a sidebar.
Basically, this bike STILL rocks. Done every kind of ride on it from short 'n techie to long and smooth and everything in between - the bike simply never fails to provide.
Too bad Titus is phasing it out of production.
My summary sound bite for this bike has been "This is the bike I've been looking for, for ten years."

Bike Setup:
King hubs, Mavic F219 rims, big tires, XT drivetrain, Magura Louise FR brakes ( 180mm rotors F&R ), Thomson post/stem, MaxM MX-5 h-bar, WTB saddle, Eggbeaters, ODI lockons, Fox Vanilla RC rear ( 5.9" travel ), Fox Vanilla 125 RLC fork
Bottom Line:
One wonderfull go-anywhere bike. Uphill, downhill, flats, crazy-tight twisties, you name it, it'll go. If this bike has a limitation is is NOT based upon the frameset - the only limitiation I've been able to find was what I could wrap my head around being able to do.
Only tweak I can even THINK of would be playing with an SPV type shock, which I may do one day.
Charles & Lonnie at Hammerhead did a fine job of the build, good guys. Charles really did me right on the package deal, could not be happier.

Stiff, I'll swear it climbs better than a hardtail. Very plush with the Swinger 4 way and marzocchi Z150, however never drains you of the power or effiency of a 6 in travel bike may have in the past.
Weaknesses:
ABSOLUTLY NONE WHAT-SO-EVER!!!!!!!!!!

Marzocchi Z150 fork with 6 in travel, Tompson stem and post. ODI lock on grips, Easton monkeylite 70 carbon bars (by far more sensitive and stronger than any aluminum bar EVER!!) Titec seat and Chris king headset....
Bottom Line:
This bike is sick. There is no rolling resistance from the tubless wheels and those rims are BOMB PROOF. we were dropping 5 foot drops and those wheels are as true as the day they were installed. The frame is a work of art, I bought the gold anodized large with a Swinger 4 way shock wich makes it peddal like a hardtail. Hills for a 37 pound bike are easier than my friends sub 23 LB hardtail but it will take it's toll on long climbs. Throw on the ETA on the marzocchi and pump up the platform on the swinger and it becomes a road bike or drop the eta and becomes an ultra efficient though plush trailbike. With the swinger this bike is everything a bike should be. TITUS is awesome!! another switchblade was being built and had a non bossed seatstay for discs and when the company was called to rectify the situation there was a new seatstay on that bike in no less than 18 hours set up for v-brakes!! REMARKABLE. Bottom line you cannot beat this bike for how all around it is if you have any questions on buying one or about any components on this bike e mail me for the real deal. I reccomend this bike for anyone with a few thousand and a need for a bike that can handle anything you can dish out as well as nandle the trail with so many faces.

Bottom Line:
This is my updated review for this product. After 3 years of hard riding on this bike, and I am a big guy so this is worst case scenario on abuse. But this bike really has a weight limit for free riding on the 6" mode. Although the front triangle is flawless and bombproof, still looking good after all that abuse, nearly every component on the rear section has cracked bent, been replaced twice, etc. First problem was the 6mm bolt for the rear shock mount. This is the weak link on the bike. After bending and breaking a few bolts. Titus was good enough to send me the 8mm upgrade, which they had ready, which shows they knew it was a problem. i have still broken one bolt and bent one bolt on the 8mm bolt set-up. The problem is the bolt is too long, anfd the additional leverage of the 6" travel mode has put too much stress on the bolt. I have also ovalized the bolt hole after 1 1/2 years. Both rear pieces have cracked, and the rear end bottoms out easy on drop-offs. I do wiegh 230, and can do no higher drop off tha 2 1/2 feet without bottoming out the susspension. Bottom line: there really is a weight limit for 6" mode. I ended up putting minre back on 4.5" and got a bullit for drop-offs. I'd say 200 lb. or under for 6" free-ride mode. This is still a great bike, I have just uncovered it's limitations. If you're a big guy who just rides trails, this is still a good bike for you. Drop-off potetial is limited

Extremely well built and balanced. Anodized finish is super tough and good looking.
Weaknesses:
Interupted seat tube limits how low you can position the seat. Horst link hits rear derailleur on big impacts.
Similar Products Used:
Ventana LaBruja, Intense Uzzi SL, Santa Cruz Bullit and Heckler

Quasi with the 1.5 head tube, Sherman Breakout, King hubs, Mavic 521's, Sapim spokes, Race Face cranks, stem and BB, XTR shifters and derailleurs, Thomsom post, Protaper bar, Hayes 8 inch up front, 6 inch in back
Bottom Line:
Most fun bike I've ever owned. The bike has 6 inches of travel front and rear, yet weighs only 33 pounds. The Sherman is extremely stiff and can handle anything you throw at it. It's sprung a little on the stiff side, but if you're hard on gear, it will take the abuse. I upgraded to the 5th Element for the rear and it is amazing. I did have to send the shock back after purchase because of a blown seal, but once I got it back, it blows away anything I've ridden. The frame itself is nothing but quality. Super burly yet reasonable in weight. I've never seen the Quasi written up in any of the magazines, but this is the best bike I've ever thrown a leg over. I am selling my Ventana LaBruja after riding this bike. Anyone interested in a Ventana, it's for sale.

Bottom Line:
I LOVE THIS BIKE. This ride weighed in at an even 28 lbs on the REI scale. 2-3 lbs heavier the my wild hare, but rides like it weighs 5 lbs less. Wierd how geometry can do that. My wild hare was a great bike but long in the chainstays (17"). I expected the quasi to be a slug uphill with 5.6" travel @ 28 lbs. This thing climbs with a lot less effort that my WH with more travel !!. After spending 4 years on a wild hare I can definately say the short chainstays WITH a Horst link make a huge difference in pedaling efficiency and isolating the rear suspension. I'm a third generation full suspension rider and I've tried single pivot,URT's, etc. and I prefer the 4 bar suspension. I don't want anything affecting the suspension except the terrain. I've read good things about the VPP design, but they have long chainstays and still rely on chain torque (although it be minimal) to control the suspension. I love a very soft squishy suspension and this thing will blast through very rough terrain without affecting pedaling cadence (just keep spinning). The bikes geometry is ideal for tight, rough technical single track. The most neautral handling bike I've ever been on. Up,down,or in the hard turns, stay in the center of the bike and "be the motor". I've never ridden riser bars believing I would not be able to clear the super steep uphill sections, but I took a chance and purchased some anyway. Another surprise, I can clear every technical uphill I've done in the past, but I still have a little juice left over when I get to the top. The bike does "feel" tall with the high bottom bracket and riser bars but you really appreciate the extra clearance over the obstacles after a week or so of riding. The Bottom Line...?
FUN FUN FUN which is why I ride.

This in my mind is the ultimate fun machine,It takes the pain out of the constant pounding the trails around here give you. With loose marbley climbs it just sucks the tire into the ground and you make it further up climbs then you would on a hardtail or single pivot. The thing accelerates without loosing all power in sag.The bike is so tight, but still a hover-craft.Thanks to Charles at Hammerhead bikes for all my answered questions, bike set-up and caring attitude

Bottom Line:
With a friend who owns a bike shop, I've had the luxury of trying almost everything and I've been through a lot of different bikes. Until I tried a Titus Moto-Lite. That bike simply blew everything else off the planet so I decided to upgrade to a stiffer frame with more travel. The 03 Quasi was everything I had hoped and is unbelievable in every respect. It's light for a 5-6" bike (mine weighs about 28 lbs) and it accelerates like a rocket. In fact this is the first thing that people comment on when they try it. For anyone who wants a FAST all around trail bike this is it. Another consideration is warranty - I've seen Titus overnight things at their cost just to take care of customers. Other mfg'ers have had me waiting months and I'm sure everyone knows what that is like. My bike was purchased at Hammerhead Bikes in Austin, TX. Those guys are the real deal. Charles knows more facts about component selection and frame fit than anyone I've met and HHB took the time to set up the bike and make sure I was happy after the sale. I intend to keep my Quasi for a long time.
