Strengths:It looks really sharp new, with great paing job.
    Weaknesses:Weak one bolt design.

Bottom Line:Single bolt stripped on my after I tried to tighten it up once again for the hundredth time. I could never get the little wedgy washer straight and tight. The whole bike would make ticking noises because of the loose seat. What a waste of my money this thing was.

Strengths:well, I guess it lasted two years.
    Weaknesses:Weak and possibly dangerous
Similar Products Used:all sorts of seatposts.
    Bike Setup:Singlespeeds and 29ers
Bottom Line:I sprained my ankle having the seatpost bolt snap on a flat street commuting to work. I think the f-ing x-wing design of the clamp puts a severe load on the top of the bolt and it finally snapped. I never thought of a design flaw until after seeing all the destruction of the top post. I've had a bolt shear off another post but that was from hitting the seat hard on a drop. All of my mountain bikes have a two or four bolt designs. And I look at all the other posts and I see a problem. Buy something else.

Bottom Line:Unless you want to be speared in the A$$ by seatpost that will break while riding, stay away from this seatpost. This thing sucked! The bolt and clamp broke after less than 2 months of riding. You would have to be a complete fool to buy this seatpost. I have a Titec stem/handle bar combo and they are great. Titec dropped the ball on this seatpost. What a piece of junk!

Strengths:nothing special. It did it's job for 2 years.
Weaknesses:a little heavy. screw broke two weeks ago.
Bike Setup:GIANT NRS2 mostly stock LX & XT Rcok Shok SID and stuff.
Bottom Line:I was riding along and all of a sudden the screw snapped and I narrowly avoided disaster. That would have been pretty painful going from seat to rear tire if ya know what I mean. I lost the pieces that hold the seat to the post and the LBS doesn't have any replacement parts. I could contact TITEC but one close call is enough for me. Yo may want to avoid this product if you're over 200#. Maybe that's the problem with the screw.

    Strengths:None found!
Weaknesses:Crappy bold broke in half. Very Creaky when used with shim as set up by Giant. Noise maybe Giant's fault.
Similar Products Used:wide assortment of mid-level seatposts on other bikes.
    Bike Setup:2003 Giant xtc IIse
Bottom Line:This product should be recalled!! The bolt snapped and the seat post self destructed while riding down the side of a smooth level street. Luckily I didn't leave any part of me haning on the seatless post. It is also lucky that I wasn't killed by the heavy traffic I was riding in. If you have this product stop using it today!!

Bottom Line:Maybe the people who complain about the clamp don't know how to work it. You tighten it flip it up and down when needed. Seriously this is the easiest to use seat post. I can't believe people are having trouble with it. I bought my bike with this on it from a family member who had the bike for a year, and neither of us have had one problem with it.

    Duration Product Used:2 Years
    Purchased At:Paramount (came with NRS2)
    Strengths:Looks nice on my Giant.
Weaknesses:I'm another stem failure statistic. The single bolt design provides no safety if the bolt snaps. I've had the bottom mounting bolt snap twice. Both times I've had some serious injuries as a result. The first time I mailed the post back to Titec and they blamed a defective bolt and sent me the same post back with a new bolt. Now the replacement bolt has snapped I'm sure there is a design flaw here. The bolt was tightened properly during both failures.
Similar Products Used:Considering all dual bolt mount designs. Even Titec makes dual bolt models which I'd consider.
    Bike Setup:Stock 2003 Giant NRS-2
Bottom Line:DON'T use this stem. Apparently this product has been discontinued. I think Giant should recall this part.

Weaknesses:The clamp is the worst ever.
Similar Products Used:Other Titec, Giant, Suntour posts.
Plus the complete POS White Brothers AP-1
Bike Setup:'03 Giant VT1, pretty much stock.
Bottom Line:DO NOT USE THIS POST. If you have one, get rid of it before you de-nut yourself, which damned near happened to me today. I dropped off of a log, maybe 1 foot at most, and the thing let go with no warning! I commented to the mech at Supergo when I took this bike in for its 30-day service that I could not keep the post tightened and that this seemed to be a common problem, judging by the numerous negative reviews, but he told me that he didn't see anything wrong. I wonder what they will say when I bring this back. I have to wonder how this post ever made it to production. Didn't anybody test it? I have had absoutley no problem with Titec products before, but this thing gets minimum chilis from me.

Bottom Line:This seatpost is awful. If you are thinking of buying one don't. I have had all kinds of trouble with the seat constantly coming loose. I have broken the bolt on the clamp and had to ride back to my car with no seat. I replaced the bolt and have had even more trouble since. It doesn't take an engineer to see that the clamp system on this post is poorly designed. There is a reason that this post is the lowest rated on this site. I just wish I would have looked at the reviews before I bought it.

    Duration Product Used:1 Year
    Strengths:Held up for 8 months
    Weaknesses:bolt and rail cradles
    Bike Setup:2002 Giant NRS 2
Bottom Line:Since day one, I have had to constantly re-tighten the seatpost bolt on my Titec X-Wing with the net effect that the bottom hole of the rail cradle is enlarging due to the movement of the bolt and it's only a matter of time before it cracks. I called Titec for a replacement for their defective clamp assembly and was told that they would send me a new replacement post but seeing as the X-Wing / X-Wing Pro is no longer in production, they would send me a Knock model instead.

When the UPS person showed up, he wanted $81 (CND) to cover the tax and delivery charge on a post that according to Titec’s web site cost $69.95 (US) which converts to about $97 (CND), something is wrong here. Maybe I’m naive, but I was under the impression that getting a replacement for a defective product meant getting one at no charge. Bottom line, I refused the parcel and I am now in the market of a new post.

Bottom Line:if you already own this post, trade it up for a thomson and you'll never have to buy another. if you're thinking about getting one because its cheap - don't. the single bolt clamping mechanism is super flexible, and eventually will break. before then, you'll be constantly tightening the bolt, and while you're riding, you'll feel and hear the movement. scary. its a cheap bolt, and the system is designed poorly so that there's a lot of leverage on it at a bad angle. it will break. titec's bars and stems are fine though.

    Strengths:I guess it's light.
Weaknesses:Seat Clamp. The plate above the post tore after only a few rides. Maybe this was because I didn't tighten it often enough. Or maybe it's because the hole in it is off centre. I don't have all the answers. But I've never had this problem with any other post.
Similar Products Used:Specialized (whatever one comes on a Stumpjumper)
Bike Setup:I'm using this seatpost on a cross country bike that undergoes moderately harsh conditions. No more no less.
Bottom Line:If you have this post and it works fine now... tighten the seat clamp as often as you can remember. Or it may suffer the same fate as mine did. And apparently you can't buy the seat clamp plate. So either get one machined out of some 4140 pre-hardened steel. Or buy a new/different post.
