$149.00 | | Purchased At: | Therapy Components | | Strengths: | Installation was easy. Parts fit perfectly. Does what it's supposed to do. | | Weaknesses: | Adds weight (170 grams). Adds $150 to the cost of the brake swap. | | Similar Products Used: | none | | Bike Setup: | KHS A-lite, Hope Pro II hubs, Avid BB-7 brakes. | | Bottom Line: | If you want disc brakes on your rim-brake frame, this is the way to go. I have had zero problems with this conversion since it was installed, and don't expect any. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Sheffield, U.K Date Reviewed: June 14, 2007 | | Favorite Trail: | Glentress | | Duration Product Used: | 2 Years | | Purchased At: | www.therapycomponents.com | | Strengths: | Best way to add Hayes to any bike. Easy to install. No frame modifications needed. | | Weaknesses: | Weight. Unlike Disc ready frames, you need to disconnect the adapter before you cab remove the rear wheel. Small amount of play. | | Bike Setup: | Specialized FSR Comp. | | Bottom Line: | Effective way to rig hayes disc brakes to your bike. Brake Therapy was the only solution that did not require me to weld or dill and bolt through my rear triangle that I could find. A good solution but like with all things there are drawbacks because it's a compromise. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$150.00 | | Purchased At: | Brake Therapy | | Strengths: | Being able to run a disk brake on a non-disk frame. Excellent materials (CNC machined T6 Aluminum) and design. Customer service is outstanding, the owner calls you back and returns e-mails himself. | | Weaknesses: | It does add weight. But if you're that concerned about weight then why are you installing disk brakes? Some older hub types are not supported. | | Similar Products Used: | No one, not even manufacturer designed retrofits come close to the level of performance of this product. | | Bike Setup: | Merlin Mountain Titanium, RF Next SL cranks, 2006 XO/XTR drivetrain, Hayes Mag XC, Atomlabs trailpims on Hope bulbs, Chris King Ti headset, Thomson stem & Post, Pushed Fox F100X fork | | Bottom Line: | First off, this product is the best disk conversion system on the market. Some people try to find BT kits on e-bay but to get the right kit for the right hub spacer and the right seatstay arm, you have to call brake therapy. Brian (the owner of therapy components) usually picks up the phone when you call unless he is out riding his bike. It is great to buy a product from a fellow MTBer instead of some company run by suits.
Second, the only way this product could break a frame is if the frame was sub standard or there was faulty installation, or it was bought off of e-bay. Kona bikes has the brake therapy kit installed on the 2007 Stinky Primo, and they wouldn't do that if there was a chance that it would break frames.
Third, why are you still reading this? Go to the therapy components website, call Brian, get your kit, install it, ride on. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$150.00 | | Purchased At: | Dales Cycles Glasgow | | Strengths: | The Brake is great. The control it can give you while coming fast into a tight corner is brilliant. Also while going down steep parts of the trail when you need to use the brake I feel all you need to use is one finger so you can have the that extra finger giving you good control of the bike. | | Weaknesses: | The only weekness it ever gave me is when I changed my forks to a larger size the cable was to short and I had to install a new cable so that the cable wasn't catching with my wheel. | | Similar Products Used: | None that I know of. | | Bike Setup: | I use a Specialized FSR frame. Thats all I can say, I don't know much about bike set up. | | Bottom Line: | The brake was great and i'm real happy with the outcome of it use. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$250.00 | | Purchased At: | Direct from Therapy Components | | Strengths: | This piece works advertised, has excellent fit and finish and a level of customer service that would make it stand out in any industry. | | Weaknesses: | The rear wheel is a little harder to get in and out. This is more then made up for by the fact I can run a disk on my pre-disk frame! | | Similar Products Used: | Are there any? | | Bike Setup: | IBIS Cousin It (tandem), XT shifters, XTR derailleurs, LX cranks, 11-34 cassette, White Brothers TM 1.0, Hope Mono6ti (205mm rotors) front and rear and Phil Wood Disk/Mavic EX 729 wheels with a Continental Vertical Pro Tection2.3 on the front and a Continental Survival Pro Tection 2.3 on the rear | | Bottom Line: | If you have a pre-disk frame and want to upgrade to disk this well designed, well made adapter is the ticket.
This adapter had to be custom built to accommodate the large rear rotor I’m running. It’s hard enough to find a company these days that will even consider a one off, much less work with you from design to completed project. I had a time constrain on the project and Brake Therapy helped me meet it. It was a pleasure to work with them.

Mounts solid and clean and once installed I havn't needed to adjust or mess with it. | | Weaknesses: | None found so far. | | Similar Products Used: | None. Could not find any. | | Bike Setup: | 1996 Trek Y-22 | | Bottom Line: | This Therapy Component has put alot of life back into a bike that has served me well. If you have a bike that you like that you would like to put disk on then this is the item for you. Especially if buying a new bike is out of the question. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

The craftmanship is superb. After installed, I gained more control at the corners, more confidence at the rough surface. It's harder to take off the rear wheel but i take the whole caliper off to make it easy. As the other reviewer said it broke the frame, it might not ideal for frames not made for full downhill purpose. Since brake therapy give wide range of freedom to use it for anything possible, users should consider how the frame should hold up. I would strongly recommend for Stab Primo. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

That would allow for it to adjust without taking the bolts out of one end. | | Bike Setup: | 98 Intense M-1 w/Mavic DeeMax wheel. | | Bottom Line: | They did this for me as a one-off custom (DeeMax hub uses 2 piece axle). It takes a little tweaking to get the correct connecting arm length. It does exactly what they said it would. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$150.00 | | Strengths: | Stregnth = weakness. Broke my frame | | Weaknesses: | Uh - it broke my frame. | | Similar Products Used: | None | | Bike Setup: | Broken Kona hahana. | | Bottom Line: | Broke my steel frame in the middle of the chainstay. look that the disc, then look at the preak - it's in a direct rotational line. This thing claims to distribute load to the brae boss, but bosses dont resist flex in the direction that BT puts on them. i thought i was saving money, but it cost me. I hate BT. 1 big flaming turd. And it cost too much.

$150.00 | | Purchased At: | therapy components | | Strengths: | great price, easy install, and flawless functionality. gary and brian are very helpful | | Weaknesses: | none yet | | Similar Products Used: | good luck trying to find one | | Bike Setup: | 99 fsr, marz dj1, planet x goliath cranks, 12mm hadley rear hub (bored out by yours truly), thomson stem and post. | | Bottom Line: | sometimes im not too sure about these reviews. as much as id like to recieve cash for writing these im not, im doing this out of respect for quality in design , and to help out anyone interested in a quality product that has proven to me that a little machine shop can still hold its own against fancy R&D. i got the therapy upgrade a year ago and forgot about it, which is probably the best complement one could give a product.

$150.00 | | Purchased At: | www.therapycomponents.com | | Strengths: | Works perfectly. Solid. Well thought out. | | Weaknesses: | Could be lighter. | | Similar Products Used: | N/A | | Bike Setup: | 1999 Litespeed Unicoi, Chris King ISO, Avid Discs, Titec, XTR else | | Bottom Line: | Works exactly like it is supposed too. I think it could be make lighter by 25% without weakening it significantly. On the otherhand it wont break! Its not pretty but it beats buying a new frame. Going to discs has been worth every penny and gram. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Ottawa, Canada Date Reviewed: May 9, 2002 | | Favorite Trail: | Multiple Orgasm | | Duration Product Used: | Less than 1 month | | Strengths: | Very easy for me to upgrade my FSR to discs using the Brake Therapy Adapter. Bolted to rear Brake Boss and slips around rear axle so no frame modification required! Very impressed by the machine work and thought that went into design. Great thing about it was that it carried the brake torque up out of the rear dropouts area and up to the brake boss. Super easy to change flats with becaues of the looped safety pin design that ties the Brake Adpater to the Rear axle. During a flat I could actually move the caliper out of the way to make wheel installation/removal easier! | | Weaknesses: | none that I am aware of ... | | Similar Products Used: | I bought a Specialized FSR Disk Brake Adapter, however, it required that I drill a hole in my rear triangle right where the drop outs were machined out to be weight reduced. I could see this was not a great solution and would lead to trouble so I kept looking till I found a better solution. Brake Therapy was the only solution that did not require me to weld or dill and bolt through my rear triangle that I could find. | | Bike Setup: | 1997 FSR Ground Control with Aluminum Extruded Max Backbone Frame, Marchozzi MXR Front Shock, XT Hubs with Mavic 317 Rims, Avid Mechanical Discs, Wild Grpper Hot S Wheels, XT/XTR Groupo with Race Face Cranks. | | Bottom Line: | If you Love your bike, want to upgrade it to disks but don't have the disk mounts welded on your frame, buy the Brake Therapy adapter. You'll Love your bike even more with disc brakes! (And you'll save some money not having to buy a new bike just to get discs! : )

$175.00 | | Purchased At: | the bikeco | | Strengths: | Ease of installation especially with no tool Hugi hub! The help from Therapy components when the wrong hub spacer was sent with my kit. The performance compared to V's. | | Weaknesses: | small amount of play, however, does not affect perfomance. Price...though cheaper than a new frame, and safer than trusting someone to weld the old one. | | Similar Products Used: | none | | Bike Setup: | KHS FXT Team with Boxxer, great FR bike, hayes front and back | | Bottom Line: | Great service from www.therapycomponents.com, prompt reply to emails, and quick shipping of necessary small parts! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

Easy to install. No frame modifications needed. Customer support. | | Weaknesses: | Weight. Rear adapter can add some weight to your bike, then again disc brakes do that anyway! Unlike Disc ready frames, you need to disconnect the adapter(pull a pin out) before removing the rear wheel(takes a few extra secs). | | Similar Products Used: | Specialized Enduro set up, utilizes specialized's adapter only compatabile with newer (99,00) swing arms. | | Bike Setup: | 1998 FSR Comp, Hayes disc brakes Front + Rear, race face BB, Time atac pedals, shimano XT disc hubs. | | Bottom Line: | Great and easy way to install disc brakes. I was the first to purchase the Shimano XT conversion kit(prototype). No problems so far and I ride hard. Brake Therapy trim and bleed the lines for you. I was skeptical at first, but the adapter is well worth the cash. I now ride in all conditions including rain. Nothing compares to disc brakes!! Especially Hays. If your serious about riding give up the V's and get yourself Brake Therapy. You won't regret it!! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
