Strengths:
They last forever. I've run the same one on my rear wheel for 8 years and it hasn't punctured once. No problems with glass or pinch flats. Inflates to 80psi

Strengths:
FInally had a glass puncture after 1200 miles. Usually these tires shed the glass after chewing it into small pieces. I've had 1 flat to 12 for other tires over the same miles. I like these a ton.

Strengths:
Fast rolling resistance, excellent traction on asphalt/concrete.
Weaknesses:
Sketchy in the wet, and the bead is tough to get on.

02 Duke XC on a kinesis built aluminum hardtail.
Bottom Line:
I put these slicks on to do some training on the road. These were the toughest tires to ever put on in my life! The wire bead has absolutely no give. I don't understand the philosophy behind this. Last week, after about 100 miles on them, the rear sidewall blew out! The bead looked like it had rusted, and came through the rubber, and the sidewall tore apart from the bead! I bought a new one, and hopefully this will last. I'll chalk it up to bad QC. These tires sure make riding your mtb on the street a lot of fun. You can really lay the bike over in turns.

They last a very, very, very, very long time, and if you pump 'em up real hard you can go dead fast!
Weaknesses:
Unfortunately, these tyres aren't able to make a decent cup of tea.

I bought these slicks when I purchased my bike way back in 2001 for commuting to work. Since then, I've done 2 tours of Wales (the country), a tour of the Greek islands and been over the Pyreneese twice. Iv'e had one blow out which was my own fault, cycling over a storm drain, the whole back wheel dropped into it. Pop, it went. I nearly missed me ferry! In short, if you like going fast and far but don't like fixing punctures, I can highly recommend these rubbers. Iv'e just bought a new set, now I'm just waitin' for the originals to wear out.

Very durable tires, took them on a 1200 mile tour on all types of terrain, not a single flat! It has great rolling resistance at higher pressures, and excellent traction, once you're goin ull keep goin.
Weaknesses:
Heavier than most other tires means wasting more energy to get them up to speed, traction tends to suffer more than similar tires in the rain.

Felt like riding on two iron strips. No spring or life in them at all. Bike shop recommended them as being "puncture resistant". I got a huge hole on my third ride - and that was just a commute to work.

I just wanted a solid commute tyre that would resist punctures and be OK to ride on. These are really heavy and feel awful on the bike. They don't seem to have any value at all against punctures. I'm taking these things off and never going back to specialized tyres.

Man these babys roll better than a knobby tread. So many "mountain type" Off Road bikes are really street rides. Why not make it easy on your self. Get a high pressure smooth tire and roll like a high stakes gambler.
Weaknesses:
The Specialized web site for 700c says up to 100 psi max. 26" version 80 psi max. My 700-38c side-wall says 80psi max. can I do 100-psi? Get ready for a harsher ride and note the fact you are going faster! Than with your low pressure knobby's
Bottom Line:
That bike Rolls like crazy, But a harsher ride. Some suspension even on the pavement is needed.

Excellent strength and reliability, very good grip on all surfaces.

None really - could be a little faster, but you can't have everything.
I bought this tyre in November to take me on a 1600 mile tour around S.E. Asia. My previous tyres (Spesh fatboys) ran well, but had very poor grip in the wet. I was carrying about 12 kg of kit (although I did do a bit of trail riding without a load). I encountered every type of road condition from smooth tarmac, greasy muddy surfaces, broken tarmac, hardpack, rutted tracks, powder. With the exception of the powder (and I don't think any tyre can handle the powder on Cambodian roads!), they performed perfectly, and never let me down. I had just once puncture the whole trip. My companion for part of the trip also had Nimbus tyres on her Spesh Hardrock, and she didn't have a single puncture in 1000 km (600 miles). They also have excellent shock absorbency, even when pumped as hard as I could. They are a little slower than more dedicated narrow road tyres, but I think thats a reasonable trade-off on tour. I'd recommend them for any tour apart from when its on guaranteed to be good tarmac all the way (then lighter, narrow tyres like the Fatboys may be better), or full on expedition touring, where you may need something heavier. For everything in between, these tyres will be perfect.
